APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Unanimously approved
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion to approve minutes from the September 17rh HSAB was made by Mr. Smith,
seconded by Mr. Connors and unanimously approved.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
Sailboat anchored off of Fulling Mill Rd: HSAB discussed the concern that some
people were having regarding a sailboat of approximately 30 feet which is currently
anchored in the shellfish beds off of Fulling Mill Rd. Harbormaster Sheila Lucey was
notified and HSAB is waiting to hear from her at our next meeting in regards to this issue.
MARINE DEPARTMENT REPORT:
No MD report.
NATURAL RESOURCES REPORT
Tara, JC, Jeff Carlson met with Mike Hickey, Jerome Moles, Tom Shields and Neil
Churchill from the DMF about the aquaculture program and possible expansion of the
acreage and better over - wintering sites for the growers.
Ground surveying will be done within the next two weeks to determine if any of the
suggested sites are approved for aquaculture.
4 out of 5 kiosks in Madaket are installed.
Boathouse is pretty much shutdown for the season, their shellfish are under the dock for
over - wintering.
Data from the summer should be ready by next meeting.
The Scallopers ball was sold out.

REPORT

OLD BUSINESS
Next steps for town biologist effort — Review town Managers response: HSAB
discussed the letter presented to us by the town Manager in response to our stand on
hiring a full time water quality biologist for Nantucket. The issue was also discussed
with the NRD.
SBWG Update- The workgroup is still going strong, working on violations and
enforcement. The SBWG is currently working on Bay Scallops.
NEW BUSINESS
Stranding preparedness — Doug Smith: Mr. Smith discussed the plan that's being
worked on by himself and the NRD for potential scallop strandings. Mr. Smith explained
how a website or Facebook page will be created and how else the NRD will be contacting
people as soon as new of a stranding is reported so that they can get the scallops back into
the water before they die.
