Today's Agenda is the following: 1) Opening remarks by Charlie Williams, President of Miacornet Members Com.rnittee, followed by the vote .for the proposed slate of members -to serve on. the Members Committee for 1. and 2 year terms 2) Briefing by Alan Costa; Miacornet Club Manager and President of NGib1; 11rc., on overall activity at 'Nliacomet witli specific. updates on Siaseouset Golf and the new Cart Barn 3) Comments on the condition of both golf courses and planned improN- ements by Scan Oberly, Superiatendent of Greens LL) Comm.euts on Restaurant Operations by Food and Beverage 11'lanagar Kate O'Con-uci, 5) Briefing on the activity of the land BanIc's Clubliouse Committee by Bob Williams, who represents the Members Committee on this body 6) Report by Alan Costa and Charlie Williams on the audit they performed on Tee Time booking problems together with the corrective actions being taken 7) General Q&A Special ..Notre: In order to adequately cover these topics, we will only have 2 -3 ruember gr.restions after each report, then open to any other questions at the end. MINUTES Nantucket Land Bank Commission Miacomet Golf Annual Membership Meeting of August. 31,2015 Miacomet Golf Course, 12 West Miacomet Road: Nantucket, Massachusetts CALL TO ORDER: 5:00 p.m. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Paterson, Reinhard, Stackpole. STAFF PRESENT: Jesse Bell, Assistant Director; Marian Wilson, Assistant Administrator. A. OPENING REMARKS: Charles Williams, President of the Miacomet Members Committee, introduced committee members that were slated for the coming year and gave a brief overview of the mission of the committee. B. MANAGER'S UPDATE: Members received an update from Miacomet Golf Course ( "MGC ") manager Alan Costa, who reported there were currently 143 legacy memberships, 255 regular memberships and 102 people on the waiting list. He explained that since May 15th there have been 15,200 rounds played and the tee times during July and August consisted of 49% members and 51 % non - members. During May and June the tee times were used by 60% members and 40% non - members. Further, July and August 95 -99% of the tee times were full and in June the tee times were 55% full. Mr. Costa said that gross golf and restaurant sales were up and last year all new initiation fees and the increases in dues and fees were put aside for the clubhouse fund. In addition, some of the profit had been put back into clubhouse maintenance and capital improvements to the course. C. SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE: Golf Superintendent, Sean Oberly commended his staff on doing a great job this season and answered various questions from members. He reminded all members the importance of replacing divots, pitch marks and raking the bunkers during their rounds. He was praised by a charter member for the great job that his grounds crew performs daily to keep the course in shape. Mr. Oberly reminded the members that golf course aeration in the fall takes one month to complete and will occur in October. Mr. Oberly stated that the Siasconset Golf Course conditions are better than anticipated after the construction project and the greens are improving daily. The clubhouse renovation was reported to be finished and Ms. Bell was praised for her work in managing that project. Miacomet Golf Annual Membership Meeting August 31, 2015 4. RESTAURANT UPDATE: Restaurant Manager Kate O'Connor updated the members on the meals served and new staff additions this year. She reported that they were currently serving more dinners in the side meeting room, in particular to local community organizations. 5. MIACOMET GOLF CLUBHOUSE COMMITTEE UPDATE: Robert Williams updated the golf course members on the committee's progress in the evaluation of design firms, one of which will be selected to create a master plan and help determine whether the existing clubhouse should be renovated or replaced. Ms. Bell answered questions on procurement issues and construction delays with regard to the Sconset clubhouse and Miacomet cart barn projects. 6. TEE TIME UPDATE: Mr. Costa ex ined that the closure of the Sconset Golf Course ( "SGC ") impacted the availability of ee times at Miacomet largely during June and July. Since SGC opened in August, tee 'mes have been more readily available. In addition, starter times had been adjusted i order to allow earlier golfers to get out onto the course.
