Murray Room at the Founder's Building
Present: Mickey Rowland, Georgia Snell, Penny Snow, Karenlynn Williams, and Brenda McDonough
Absent: Jeanette Topham, Phil Hubbard, and Alex Rosenberg
Guests: Mike Burns
Note: Before Mr. Rowland called this meeting to order, Ms. Williams wondered who was
responsible for disabled residents in the event of an emergency. She wondered if there was a
master list of elderly and disabled residents who would require assistance in the event of an
emergency. Ms. Snell said that she would find out who has the list and what the protocol is
for assistance during an emergency.
Call to Order: 3:39p.m.
Agenda: Mr. Rowland stated, by unanimous consent we are adopting the agenda.
Minutes: Ms. Snell motioned to approve January 13, 2015 minutes, which Ms. Williams
seconded, and all the present, remaining Commission members voted in favor of this
motion.
Topies: 3:40 p.m.
Mike Burns, Transportation Planner:
Mike Burns attended our meeting again to hear any suggestions that our Commission
has regarding the update to the Regional Transportation Plan. Ms. McDonough
submitted a list with suggestions to include in the update. Ms. Snow spoke about two
dangerous intersections:
1. The hedges on east side of Pleasant Street at the intersection of Williams Street
make it impossible to see traffic heading north on Pleasant and should be
removed.
2. The intersection configuration of Williams and Pleasant Streets on the west
side of Pleasant Street is extremely dangerous. The Commission discussed this
intersection and thought that a "T" shaped intersection would be a safer option
for all drivers.
Mr. Burns appreciated all the suggestions from our Commission and plans to attend
our next meeting for more discussions regarding the Regional Transportation Plan
update.
4:11 p.m.
Mr. Burns left the meeting.
Ms. Snell motioned to adjourn our Open Session, which Ms. Snow seconded, and all
the remaining, present Commission members voted in favor of this motion.
