HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-1-13Present: Absent: Guests: Note: Nantucket Commission on Disability Minutes Open Session Tuesday January 1.3, 2015 Murray Room at the Founder's Building Mickey Rowland, Jeanette Topham, Georgia Snell, Phil Hubbard, Penny Snow, Alex Rosenberg, Karenlynn Williams, and Brenda McDonough All Present Paula Leary and Mike Burns Call to Order: Agenda: Mr. Rowland welcomed Karenlynn Williams as our new Commissioner. Ms. Williams told the Commissioners a little about herself and why she is interested in the Comrpission on Disability. 3:37 p.m. Mr. Rowland stated, by unanimous consent we are adopting the agenda. Minutes: Ms. Topham motioned to approve November 11, 2014 minutes, which Ms. Snell seconded, and all the present, remaining Commission members voted in favor of this motion. except Ms. Williams who did not attend November's meeting. Topics: 3:40 p.m. Mike Burns, Transportation Planner: Mike Burns attended our meeting to inform the Commission that the town is in the process of updating their Regional Transportation Plan. Mr. Burns focused on the multi -use paths and bike lanes portion of this plan. All the Commissioners received a detailed map of the sidewalks in the downtown area, bike paths adjacent to the downtown area, the hospital area, the area around the schools, and the mid - island area. Mr. Burns identified sidewalk additions, sidewalk replacements, path and sidewalk modifications, and point of interests on this map. He is requesting any comments or suggestions regarding the sidewalks, bike paths, and point of interests that are outlined on the map. He is wondering if he missed anything and would like for us to look at the area outlined on the map for any additional improvements that might not be identified. Mr. Burns mentioned that Allen Reinhard, Chairman for the Roads and Right -of Way Committee, submitted all the information from the Downtown Sidewalk Survey Project. This project identified the conditions of the downtown sidewalks and the sidewalks leading to mid - island. 4. Cisco Brewery: Talked to Wendy Hudson on Jan. 13, 2015 regarding the covered signage for the accessible parking spaces. Ms. Hudson planned to address this problem with the rest of the owners at Cisco Brewery that afternoon. 5. Sent Matt McEachem and family a sympathy card. 6. Matt McEachern met with Mr. Rowland and Ms. McDonough regarding access concerns at 21 South Water Street. 4:45 p.m. Ms. Topham left the meeting. Ms. Snell motioned to adjourn our Open Session, which Ms. Rosenberg seconded, and all the remaining, present Commission members voted in favor of this motion.
