Topics: 3:55 p.m. Accessible Outdoor Areas: Margaret and Bill Vacik attended our meeting to discuss their wishes to improve access to the naturally beautiful areas of this island. They visited many areas around the island and noted what could be done to make these areas more accessible to residents and visitors with ambulatory disabilities. They were mainly interested in the ability to drive to a certain location, park a vehicle, and enjoy the ocean, marshes, ponds, and open spaces. Many areas could be accessible if there were some accessible parking spaces with a hard - packed surfaces, and accessible viewing platforms to enjoy the view that most people can enjoy by simply walking over a dune or along a trail. They realize that there are areas of Nantucket where this will not be possible, but they are focusing on the areas that can be made accessible with minimal effort and expense. The following are some areas that Margaret and Bill Vasic visited: 1. Madaket Beach 2. Jackson Point 3. Clark Cove 4. Miacomet Pond (west side) 5. Access points to Cisco Beach 6. Tom Nevers 7.
