Purpose: Regular Meeting
MINUTES — Approved March 12, 2014
Members Present: Tobias Glidden, Kevin Marshall, Jason Bridges, Harvey Young, Rachel Hobart,
Charles Waters, Ian Golding
Staff Present: Mike Burns, Silvio Genao
Public: Kate Amodio
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 10:00am
II. Establishment of Quorum
All Committee members were present and sworn in with the Town Clerk
III. Election of Officers — Chair and Vice -Chair
The Committee was asked by staff to nominate a Chair.
Jason Bridges was nominated by Harvey Young.
There were no other nominations.
The Committee voted unanimously to appoint Jason Bridges as Chair.
The Committee was asked by staff to nominate a Vice Chair.
Ian Golding was nominated by Tobias Glidden.
There were no other nominations.
The Committee voted unanimously to appoint Ian Golding as Vice Chair.
1V. Approval of Agenda
The agenda was approved without objection.
V. Public Comment
There was no public comment.
VI. Action / Discussion Items
A. Establish a regular meeting date, time, and location
The Committee discussed the days and times for a routine meeting schedule.
There was consensus to meet the third Wednesday each month at 1:30pm.
There was also consensus to meet more frequently as needed.
B. Designation of the Town of Nantucket as a "bicycle- friendly community"
The Committee reviewed the standards for a bicycle- friendly community designation that
is provided by the League of American Bicyclists.
Tobias Glidden agreed to review the complete streets policy and coordinate an approval of
a policy by the Board of Selectmen.

Mike Bums provided the Committee with a copy of the Regional Transportation Plan
goals and objectives for transportation for review.
Jason Bridges agreed to email a copy of the full application to the Committee and
coordinate the completion of a draft application for review at the next meeting.
C. Review bicycle and pedestrian projects listed in the Regional Transportation Plan
Mike Bums provided a copy of the bike and pedestrian section of the Regional
Transportation Plan, which included recommended capital improvements.
Kevin Marshall agreed to provide the Committee with data on bike and pedestrian crashes,
as well as bike and pedestrian complaints that have been submitted to the Police.
VII. Other Business
There was consensus that the Committee should coordinate with the Roads and Right of
Way Committee on bike and pedestrian issues.
There was consensus that the Committee should consider coordinating volunteers for
identifying maintenance issues along bike and pedestrian facilities.
There was consensus to have a meeting on March 12, 2014 to review potential small
scale projects that could be completed prior to the summer season.
