The agenda was approved. There was no public comment. Susan Handy was welcomed as a member of the NHC. She had previously been a member when the group was initially formed. Susan's particular background will allow the NHC address the rules for preserving archeological information from our Native American heritage. There are missed opportunities for gathering and preserving artifacts and information on both town and private projects. Many townspeople have privately gathered remarkable collections might also serve as advisors and contribute information to fill in the blanks in our island history. A letter from Mike Burns requesting comment on the Goose Pond Road bike path was discussed. The group felt that there was not enough information to form an opinion. A letter from the NHC will be sent to Mike Burns asking for documents and studies. An update on the St. Paul's Stained Glass Windows Historic Preservation Restriction: Dual Macintyre had called to say that the extra photographs had been submitted to the HDC for the permanent file on the restriction. Caroline Ellis will follow up and be sure that the file is complete. The role of the NHC in the appeals process for the HDC to the BOS was discussed. It would be logical for the NHC to become part of the process to advise the BOS. It was a matter that should be explored with town counsel. Demolition by delay is a concern that the NHC should explore as its responsibility and set a policy for the Town. It really doesn't fall into the responsibilities of the HDC. The meeting was adjourned at 6:40.
