Minutes of meeting 10 A.M., SATURDAY, September 1, 2012, at

2. ACNVT Chair Howard Blitman called the meeting to or&r at-
10:01 a.m. The minutes of the August 11, 2012 meeting ertb ZZ
approved. o
3. Taking up the ACNVT concern about preserving natural' -
vegetation on a lot undergoing development, the draft Wier w
distributed to ACNVT members by 8/31/12 e-mail was'' discussed.
Upon motion of Jim Treanor, seconded and passed, our Chair
Howard Blitman was to sign and mail the letter dated 9/1/12.
4. Recalling the presentation at our 8/11/12 meeting, motion was
made, seconded and passed for our Chair to send a letter (to be
drafted by Lee Saperstein) to the BOS expressing our high concern
for completing the in -town bike path. [The letter was duly signed
and sent.]
5. After Bill Sherman presented proposed upgrades for the ACNVT
webpage on the Town website [see attachment to 8/31/12 e- mail],
the Secretary was instructed to implement an upgrade. This will
help bring ACNVT into better conformity with the Town's Public
Information Policy.
6. In recalling the 2012 Summer Forum cosponsored with the
Nantucket Community Association, concern was expressed about
limited parking. Bill Sherman offered to raise with NCA the
auestion whether the 2013 Forum site might be chosen with better
markine. The Atheneum has been preferred for convenience of
Town officials and as symbolic of concern for continuing Core
District vitality. Also suggested was inclusion of Tim Madden for
a broader perspective. Appreciation was expressed for NCA
efforts.
7. Speaking about a proposal of smaller wind generator for Madaket
on 2012 STM warrant, Jay Strauss was opposed. Recalling talks at
MI I's energv department, Jay thought wind generators had
insuincienr return on investment and intermittency of wind power
maae a moor enerev source for the grid. Long term maintenance
posed more cost offsetting benefit. Howard Blitman spoke of
environmental value. No position was taken.
8. Howard urged stronger coordination among NGOs such as the
Land Council, Maria Mitchell Association and Linda Loring
Nature Foundation. Others cited where the Conservation
Foundation and the Mass Field Station. Bill Sherman questioned
whether ACNVT had a role in this.
9. Bill referred to recent issues of the I &M suggesting that further
steps might be useful to continue much progress in relations
between seasonal and year -round residents. Further discussion is
proposed for our next meeting.
10.Our next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2012,
at 10:00 a.m. in the PSF Training Room. Jim Treanor, Vice Chair,
will be available if Howard is absent.
