• Post Office: The Pleasant Street post office accessible parking spaces are not
easily recognizable as the accessible spaces. Ms. McDonough will look at the
spaces and contact the post office and request that they delineate the spaces so
that they are easily recognized as accessible spaces.
• Stop &Shop: Ms. McDonough will look at the accessible parking spaces at the
Stop &Shop parking lot.
• Nantucket Inn: Ms. McDonough will get the building plans for the Nantucket
Inn and she and Mr. Rowland will check the accessible features of the building
and the parking lot.
• 2 Fairgrounds Mr. Rowland informed the Commission that the town plans to
make an accessible entrance at 2 Fairgrounds in the future. In the meantime,
Ms, McDonough will ask if they can place signage at the main entrance
directing their disabled visitors to the accessible entrance.
• Angler's Club: Ms. Rezendes will talk to someone at the Angler's Club about
repainting the yellow stripe on their stairs.
• Ms. McDonough reported that a Nantucket taxpayer contacted her and
wondered why there were no accessible parking spaces at the business
complex at 126 Old South Road. Ms. McDonough stated that she sent two
letters to John Keane regarding the need for 4 accessible parking spaces. She
then contacted Steve Butler, Building Inspector, and asked if he would look
into this matter. Mr. Butler requested my correspondence with Mr. Keane and I
sent it to him.
• Ms. McDonough happily told the Commission that the stand -by policy that the
SSA implemented at our request worked beautifully for a visitor who was
disabled and uses a wheelchair and had to travel with her vehicle. Steve
Perkins, Hyannis Terminal Manager, and Elaine Mooney, Nantucket Terminal
Manager, assured me that this person would be first in line on stand -by and
they would get her and her family to Nantucket on the next boat after they
check in. Ms. McDonough will send a thank you to both terminal managers.
• Someone told Ms. Rezendes that recently one of the bus drivers for the SSA in
Hyannis was discourteous to her.
Executive Session: 4:06
Ms. Snell motioned to go into executive session and not to return
to open session, which Ms. Rezendes seconded, and Mr. Rowland, Ms. Topham, Ms.
Rezendes, Ms. Braginton- Smith, and Ms. Snell voted in favor of this motion.
