Purpose: To listen to the discussion of the proposal of the Community Foundation for Nantucket. (Include copy) The following is a summary of discussion, deliberations and actions of the BOS. After a brief discussion between the BOS, Margaretta Andrews (Executive Director ofCFNan, and Jenny Garneau (HC Collaborative), the BOS voted to take all of the town entities out of the selection process for choosing a consultant to do the studies that were proposed. The vote was not unanimous, Whitey was against it. Mike Kopko said he applauded the group, they were the most apolitical group he could think of. Margaretta said they would get more money if they did the whole study. The meetings to select the consultant would be closed as they were a private organization and were not required to have open meetings. The BOS requested that once picked, the consultant and the credentials of such would be made known to the BOS. They also wanted any results and recommendations made by the consultant to be brought to a public meeting (probably BOS). Whitey continued to have difficulty with the town not having any input into the choosing of the consultant. The BOS clearly (so stated) liked the idea of the study being done without any town funds. The charges by the BOS to CHS and HSCWSG will continue to go forward as the new study wouldn't be forthcoming any time soon. The BOS kept reiterating that these were completely different studies and charges. The vote was taken before Augie could get a chance to speak and the CFNan people left immediately after the vote. Augie was allowed to speak and was reassured the CFNan was only getting recommendations, nothing was set in stone. An open meeting would be held once the recommendations were ready. Patty Roggeveen also stated that when CFNan has a consultant, that the BOS would have a meeting with them to discuss the credentials; Page 2 - July 21, 2010 CHS meeting they may even ask the CFNan to come back before that. Patty promised to continue the conversation when the committee comes back. Patty assured Augie that no Town funds would be used for the study.
