Mrs. Beck convened the meeting at 3:05 PM and asked for approval of the Minutes for 18 February
2010. With Mrs. Van Lieu's motion and Mr. Quigley's second, they were approved. Mr. Quigley
abstained.
The Beach Manager's Report:
He has sent the Beach Driving Map to the printer now that the BOS have approved it. He has
ordered 8000 copies, same as last year.
Since the sand has filled in the breach at Smith's Point, he is planning to open the point for
vehicles as long as he can create safe havens for any plovers who settle there. There may be a one-day
trip fee for vehicles going out to the point.
The Town Manager held a meeting of agencies with beach responsibilities on Tuesday, March
16, to discuss pre-season work and to establish the policies stated in the Beach Management Plan as
enforceable regulations for the Town. The Beach Manager handed out a summary of proposed
amendments which would become additions to the existing Beach regulations, as a new Section X in
General Beach Rules. A copy is attached with these Minutes.
Mr. Quigley motioned that BMAC send a letter to the BOS stating that they have reviewed and
endorsed the proposed changes and amendments to the Beach Management Regulations in both
language and spirit. Mrs. Van Lieu seconded the motion, which was passed unanimously. Mrs. Beck
announced that the State will license public beaches henceforth and require clear signage at each
indicating beach rules and demeanor.
The Police Chief announced that there would be a further meeting soon regarding a plan for
enforcement of traffic and alcohol rules at Nobadeer on July 4.
The members voted for the next meeting to be held at 3:00 PM on April 8. Mrs. Beck is hoping
the 1& M can join the members then for a discussion of summer beach news.
Mr. Quigley motioned, with Mr. Magee seconding, to adjourn at 4:06 PM.
