Land Bank Conference Room
The members present approved unanimously the Minutes of 4 February 2010.
Mrs. Beck asked for a future meeting with Josh Ballin& Assistant Editor of the I&M. He could not meet
with BMAC today. Mr. Dickson offered to call Mr. Balling and set up a meeting with him at his office
with any of the BMAC members interested in taking part. The Beach Manager also wanted to be at the
meeting.
The Beach Manager's Report:
Mr. Carlson and Eileen Powers are awaiting a final draft of the Beach Driving Brochure from the
printer.
In regard to beach debris mentioned in a recent issue of "The Nantucket Independent,n Mr.
Carlson remarked that clearing up that debris was not in his control. The property owners should really
take the responsibility.
In response to Mrs. Van Ueu's question about providing bags at beaches for picking up dog
feces, Mr. Carlson replied that owners must be responsible for poIidng their dogs.
He does not think the purchase of four new ATV's is excessive. They must all be in good working
order for the three changes of shift each day of the summer season. In addition, new rescue boards for
lifeguards have been ordered.
He is pleased at the good return ratio showing up in the applications for lifeguards and is
awaiting the high school's completion of ten stands for the lifeguards. The high school woodshop
students are also repairing the coffin beach boxes which hold the lifeguards' equipment.
In response to Mrs. Beck's query about the conversations with the Land Bank regarding beach
maintenance, he recommends BMAC wait for any further comments from the 80S or the Land Bank.
legal changes in The Land Bank's Mission Statement would have to be made if a shared policy were
established.
The members agreed to meet next on March 18 at 3:00 PM in the Land Bank Conference Room.
