The members approved the August 6 Minutes unanimously. Mrs. Beck circulated the final draft of the 2009 Annual Report for all to confirm and announced that she had sent Mr. Stewart a long list of contact persons whom he could call upon for his Only Footprints campaign. The Beach Manager's Report: Mr. Carlson reviewed the incident at Nobadeer the early evening of 8 August; it was quickly handled by the Police. One arrest was made, and some traffic problems occurred. Mrs. Beck mentioned the concerns of nearby neighbors that strangers coming from Nobadeer often trespassed on their property. She also referred to Chief Pittman's e-mail which regretted that this trespassing often occurred in beach neighborhoods. Mr. Dickson remembered when a resident of Pol pis gave a piece of his land to the Town to facilitate beach access and keep trespassers away from his property. Mr. Carlson reviewed his matrix of beaches, which embrace mostly oceanside locations. Pol pis and Squam are under the Harbormaster's attention. Mrs. Beck presented a list of all beaches and their caretakers. Mr. Quigley asked about closing of beaches for bacterial content. Mr. Carlson replied that sampling is done daily for that issue. Mr. Carlson reported that the ATV patrols and the bicycle police were all doing well. He assured Mr. Quigley that the porta-potties at Nobadeer would probably stay until after labor Day. Mr. Quigley recommended that the members and the Beach Manager take a look at the attractive wooden enclosures Hyannis puts around its potties at the docks. Mr. Carlson noted that New Jersey beaches have tent -type enclosures. Mrs. Van Lieu believes that the Town is in denial that people need toilrt facilities. Mr. Dickson asked about an artist making a piece of art work in the dunes at Snyder's Beach. Mr. Quigley asked if BMAC would take a stand on the Western Avenue vehicle restrictions. Mr. Carlson said we should support the BOS ruling. Mr. Quigley reported a caterer at Nobadeer without a permit. (Reference BMPlan s.2.and 5.2.1) Mr. Carlson reminded the members that the Board of Health issues these permits. Mrs. Beck asked for suggestions to set goals for the coming fiscal year. The members decided on five as follows: Continue to manage large events on beaches and continue pressure on such events Publicize BMAC as a resource for the public to air concerns about the beaches Continue use of TV and I&M for education of beachgoers Continue to meet with Town officials about their role in and awareness of beach management Erect discreet sheds for porta-potties Look into pollution in the ponds Mr. Carlson recommended that the Chair send the BOS a copy of the goals and ask for further suggestions from them for our use. Mr. Dickson recommended that BMAC return its meetings to the land Bank Conference Room. The members agreed and set September 3 and 17 for the upcoming meetings.
