Mrs. Beck convened the meeting at 4:14 pm. The members present approved the Minutes
unanimously, with Mr. Dickson making the motion and Mr. Quigley seconding.
Beach Manager's Report:
The interns working on protecting the endangered species will begin June 1.
The Life Guard staff is complete; nineteen of them have returned from last year; their ages run .
from 17 to 33. Their housing quarters have been repaired and cleaned. Their training begins on June 22.
There will be no raking of the beach at Jetties this year because of the arrival and breeding of
the plovers.
A dumpster directly on the beach is being considered for trash at Nobadeer for the 4th of July
weekend. The decision will be made in June.
The bike racks at the end of Nonantum need to be replaced. The Land Bank is in charge of that
area. Mrs. Beck will remind Bruce Perry of their condition.
The members discussed the Beach Manager's Plan for the Park and Recreation placement of
porta-potties and trash barrels at Madaket Beach. The arrangement will move them a little further
away from the LeCain property.
The members discussed ATV patrols and other summer plans. Mr. Carlson prefers not to plant grass at
the Nobadeer Beach access right now, nor does he think the High School Surf Club can help much in
beach clean-up at present. Mr. Quigley did move that the Clean Team be asked to work the Nobadeer
area after July 4 weekend. Mrs. Beck will make that request
The members agreed to meet next on June 18 at the Land Bank at 4 pm
