The members approved the Minutes of the January 8 meeting. Mr. leddy, who had not been able to be present at the January 8 meeting, wished to make clear that his objection to a sign at the December 11 meeting was not to the sign per se but to its wording. Mrs. Beck admitted that she had forgotten to include in the January Minutes that the sign was not on the Apthorpe Land Bank property nor would the Land Bank have used the phrase No Trespassing on it. Mrs. Beck welcomed Kate Brosnan and her associate Jenelle from Plum TV to discuss more filming of good beach practices for summer viewing on Channel 22. While Plum supplied the initial two films last year pro bono, Ms. Brosnan estimated that the cost of filming similar productions this summer would be between $500-$1000. Mr. Carlson believed he could allow such an amount from the Beach Manager's budget. Several ideas for filming were discussed: proper grilling fires, trash removal after picnics, dogs on leashes. Plum would also be glad to interview Mr. Carlson about the 4th of July holiday arrangements, especially at Nobadeer Beach. The members praised Mr. Carlson for his convincing presentation to the Board of Selectmen on January 21 for an increase in beach driving permit fees for rental cars. The increase will be reviewed after one year to study its effects. Mr. Carlson announced that the Beach Driving Brochure was at the printer's and would be available soon. It has been delayed to extend the red zone at Surfside to all of the Western Avenue beachfront properties, which applied for exemption from Beach Management Access. He will begin now to collect new photos for the 2010 edition as will the designer. He reported that applications are arriving for lifeguard positions and that the steep drop off Surfside Beach is building up again. He will also review the beach access at Hoicks Hollow Road in Siasconset during the coming season. The next meeting will be held at the land Bank on March 19 at 4:00 pm. Respectfully submitted, Maureen Beck, Chair
