N -J Mrs. Beck announced that the Harbormaster would come to the November 6 meeting to talk about the Coastal Management Plan and any other concerns BMAC wish to ask about. Mrs. Beck suggested that the members be alert to some broad comments the Director of Planning made at the BOS meeting on 15 September about the differences in beach management among abutting beaches accessible to the public on island. The members expressed concern about when the Website for Beach Management would be brought up to date. Mrs. Beck will ask Mr. Carlson for a schedule. The Beach Driving Brochure: That the solid red line be abolished since the only portion remaining for it was at Pol pis Harbor, an impossible area in which to drive. That the green dash area be eliminated That all new photos be introduced showing positive driving, not disapproved driving That the current photos show approved driving only with DO's That the beach drawing of driving between dunes and water show only approved straight lines of driving farther away from the dunes ( also increase red line at edge of dunes further south toward the shore to indicate keeping clearer of dunes - Photo shop can change these images. That #11 on the text side of the map read as follows; Gatherings of 15 or more unrelated persons with any commercial services on any beach requires ...etc. That Mr. Leddy wants the numbers 20, 5, and 100 in red ink in #6 regarding speed rates of vehicles on beaches to be underscored in red ink. Permit fees All members believe the beach driving permit fees should be raised as follows: Keep year-round residents the same: $50 until May 31; thereafter, $100 For off-islanders $200 at all times Mrs. Beck reported that the trash problems at Children's Beach behind the Concessionaire's building will be ameliorated by a clearing and replanting of the landscape by Parks & Recreation. The members recommended that before any official closing of the Madaket Public Beach that aerial photographs be obtained for use by the press and others of the previous condition of the beach and its current serious erosion. Mr. Leddy reported that the posts have been restored upright at Nobadeer and that fencing has been placed east of the Nobadeer dune to keep away vehicles from inroads into the dune. Also, he noted that the Land Bank has put signs on their property east of the Youth Hostel discouraging beach access there. The meeting was adjourned at 5:05 pm. The next meeting will take place on November 6. Respectfully submitted, with notes from Tom Dickson, Maureen Beck, Chair
