The Right' of \'.!JY Committee lIlet at 8:00 P~1 on December 5, 1979 in the Town
and County Building with Messngrs: Marble, Yacus, Eldridge and Barrett being
present. Mr. Waine was absent.
Mr. Yacus made a motion to 0.pprove the minutes as corrected (re. Chapter
693), seconded by Mrs. Marble, voted unanimously.
The Committee received a letter from ~1r. Thurber regarding private ways.
The Cbmmittee received a copy of Mr. Buckinghams letter to Ellen Harrison, Esq.
regarding the Boat Meadow Creek Corporation and land on Wauwinet Road, (Polpis
Harbor). The COlllmittee di scussed the tvJO accesses to Pol pi s Harbor and
. Mr. Barrett suggested that the Town should obtain an easement in the access
road from the Wauwinet side to the Harbor, and put in a ramp like the one
in Madaket, perhaps from some grant to also improve the way. Mr. Eldridge
asked if all the abutters would have to sign off to give an easement to
the Town, Mr. Barrett said the majority would have to. In response to
Mrs. Marbles question, ~jr. Eldridge gave the background of how the matter
of the Polpis Harbor access started. Mr. Eldridge said why improve the road
for someone else if the Town only gets an easement. Why not stick with
something we own.(Polpis Harbor Access Road) Mr. Eldridge asked the
. committee to work on both accesses rather than neglect one of them.
! The Committee discussed public ways. Will send a letter to Charles Goglia
and request his opinon regarding the status of the roads.
The Committee discussed Hinckley Lane and decided to write a letter to
Mr. Thurber recommending removal of the posts but suggest they obtain
opinion of Charles Goglia. to see if a precedent has been set in similar
cases.
The next scheduled meetings will be January 2 and 16.
Mr. Eldridge made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Yacus, voted
unanimously.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 PM.
