Topics:
Mission Statement
· Brenda spoke about revising the Commission's description in the Nantucket
Phone Book and also revising our Mission Statement. The members received
copies of the Commission's various descriptions in different publications and our
current Mission Statement. The members were asked to review this information
so that we can revise our description and Mission Statement at February's
meeting.
Accessible Parking at Community Pool
· Linda advocated relocating the existing, three accessible parking spaces at the
Community Pool parking lot. She stated that the spaces would better serve the
disabled community if the spaces were the three closest spaces to the pool
entrance.
Phil mentioned having spaces at both ends of the parking lot might make sense.
Mickey suggested relocating two spaces towards the entrance and keep the
remaining one where it presently exists.
Accessible Pools and Ramps
· Sankaty Head Beach Club and Cliffside Beach Club are building new pools.
Linda wants the Commission to review those pool plans for accessibility.
· Linda mentioned that the ramp at Ed Lindbergh's building on Amelia Drive is
noncompliant and is partially located in the accessible parking space.
Reviewing Building Plans
· Mickey asked Linda if the Commission could review building plans for access
features before HDC's approval. This could possibly avert access problems before
the construction phase. Maybe the applicant could make an extra copy of the
building plans for our Commission to review. Mickey also wondered if the
Commission could be added to the signature requirements on the Certificate of
Occupancy.
Other
. The Commission wants to have a site on the Town's web site. Brenda will speak
with Aaron about creating this site.
. Run and advertisement for new Commission members. Call some permit holders
to see if they express any interest in the available positions.
