Bills Town of Nantucket Conservation Commission Town and County Building Nantucket, Massachusetts 02554 October 6, 1983 The regular meeting of the Nantucket Conservation Commission was called to order at 7:36 PM by Chairman C. Borchert. Members present were: P. Bennett, C. Borchert, G. Burchell, C. Pearl, A. Silva and P. Waine. Members absent: M. Arnold. 1. Minutpc; of the meeting of September 22, 1983. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes as typed with the amendment that the name Halverstrom be changed to Halstead when it appeared in the minutes. So voted. 2. Audience to press and public. Mr. Wayne Mosher and Mr. Edward Ruley were present to discuss the matter of cleaning up a pond located off Cliff Road. P. Waine questioned how deep the pond was. Mr. Mosher replied it was about three feet deep. There followe< a discussion between Mr. Mosher and the Commission on the dredging and cleaning of the pond. C. Borcneet suggested the owner file an Abbreviated Notice of Intent. P. Waine suggested a field inspection of the site. The Commission members stated they were familar with the site. The matter was closed. 3. Michael O'Mara - Determination. The field inspection report of the site located on Polpis Road. G. Burchell moved to accept the recommendations of the report which were to issue a Determination with negative item 3 checked. Seconded by A. Silva. So voted. 4. David Cunningham - Determination. T~e Chairman read the field inspection report for property located on Eel Point Road. C. Pearl moved that positive item 3 be checked with the additional statement that "Any part of the dwelling or structure must be located thirty feet from the edge of the bluff. This includes porches or decks." Secodded by P. Bennett. So voted. 5. Peter Hnlstead - Mioxes Pond. The field inspection report was read by the Chairman. A motion was made and seconded to accept the recommendation of the report that no action need be taken at this time. So voted. 6. Planning Board Requests. The Commission reviewed two Referral Forms and accompanying plans. A motion was made and seconded to forward a letter to the Planning Board that the subdivision located off Oakland Avenue, Madaket, owned by Lindsey Perry, was subject to the Act and that the Commmission noted inconsistencies in the two plans submitted. So moved. A motion was made and seconded that a subdivision located off Brinda Lane, owned by Theodore Kalman, was not subject to the Act. So voted. 7. Board of Splprtmpn - Stock Donation. Chairman Borchert read 'the.letter authorizing the Commission to accept a gift of stocks with the proviso that once acquired, the stocks be sold and the cash deposited in the Commission's land fund. A. Silva moved to have G. Burchell handle the matter. Seconded by P. Bennett. So voted. 8. Michael Bachman - Washjnq Pond property. The Chairman read the letter concerning work to be performed on a bulkhead. The Commission voted that the work to be performed was simple maintenance and therefore it would not be necessary to file a Notice of Intent. 9. Michael Bachman - Notice of Intent. The Chairman read the letter requesting that tne public hearing for Randolph Sharp - Notice of Intent be continued until the next regular meeting. So voted. 10. First Baptist Church of Boston - Donation. A motion was made and seconded to accept the donation in memory of Randy Krewson. So voted. 11. Requests for Determination. The Commission reviewed the request for property located on Easton ~treet, owned by Theodore Cross. The Determination was scheduled for the next meeting after the Request was duly advertised. So voted. 12. Wetlands ByLa~. The Commission voted to accept the amendments to the Wetlands Act and to adopt the proposed fee schedule. So voted. 13. Violations. The Commission voted to issue Enforcement Orders on property located on Monomoy Road, owned by Ann Strong Garrett and on property located in Madaket, owned by Lindsey Perry. So voted. 14. Bills. A motion was made and seconded to pay the following bill: Robert Marks $248.00 Maintenance work 15. Seminar. P. Waine moved to pay one way of the plane fare for the secretary to attend a seminar on October 14. Seconded. So voted. There being no further business, themeeting was adjourned at 8:59 PM.
