The regular meeting of the Nantucket Conservation Commission was called to
order at 7:30 PM by Chairman C. Borchert. Members present were: M. Arnold,
P. Bennett~ C. Borchert~ C. Pearl~ G. Burchell and P. Waine. Members absent:
A. Silva.
1. Minutes of the meeting of June 30~ 1983. A motion was made and seconded to
adopt the minutes as typed with the amendment that page 1, line 2 read: The
meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman P. Bennett. There was no opposition.
2. Dr Wylie Collins - Stanley Stern property. Dr. Collins addressed the Commission
regarding a driveway being constructed on Top Gale Lane off Polpis Road. Dr.
Collins expressed concern over the possibility of the construction of the driveway
being in violation of the Wetlands Act. The Commtssi~n discussed the matter with
Dr. Collins stating they had previously reviewed the proposed plan for the
driveway and determined that the construction of the driveway would not require
the ftling of a Notice of Intent. The Commission members stated they had
approved the plan subject to the condition that a culvert be installed. It
was voted to schedule a field inspecti~n of the site with the agent

3, Ms. Donna Tritman ~ Certificate of Compliance. Mr. Peter Boynton was present as
agent for the owner, Mr. Boynton requested a Certificate for the dwelling and
septic system located on Low Beach Road. The Commission voted to schedule a field
inspection of the property and to issue a Certificate if the work had been
completed satisfactorily.
4. Requests to Determine Applicability. The Commission reviewed two Requests -
one for Butnell Corporation for a building to be located on Orange Street
and the second for a proposed dwelling to be located at Pocomo on property
owned by Mrs. Christine Carter. The Commission voted that Notices of Intent
would be needed for each project. There was no opposition.
5. Correspondence:

The letter was read and placed on file.
EOEA - Coastal Barrier Resources Act - The letter was read and placed on file.
Personnel Board - Working Hours - The letter was read and placed on file.
BSC Engineering - Order of Conditions SE48-l94. The letter was read and placed on file,
Surfside Association - Closing of Beach to Vehicular Traffic - The letter was read
and placed on file.

P. Waine moved to elect G. Burchell as the Commission's
P. Bennett seconded the motion. It was so voted.
7. Jet Gas ~orporation. The Determination was read by the Commission.
G. Burchell moved that a letter should be sent to Jet Gas informing
that a Notice of Intent would be filed if Washington Street was used
as a landing site. P. Bennett seconded the motion. A. Silva oppo sed
the motion. The motion was carried, 4-1.
8. Committees. Chairman Borchert addressed the Commission concerning
assignment to the Commission's committees. The assignments
were so voted. There was no opposition.
9. Bills. A motion was made and seconded to pay the following bills:
