Bills Town of Nantucket Conservation Commission Town and County Building Nantucket, Massachusetts 02554 June 2, 1983 The regular meeting of the Nantucket Conservation Commission was called to order at 7:40 PM by Chairman C. Borchert. Members present were: P. Bennett, C. Borchert, G. Burchell, C. Pearl, B Richmond, A. Silva and P. Waine. Members absent: None. 1. Minutes of the meeting of May 19, 1983. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes as typed. There was no opposition. 2. Audience to press and public. Mr. Fred Roland addressed the Commission concerning the filing of Notices of Intent for the Surfside and Siasconset sewer bed projects The Commission discussed the filing procedure and th~ various types of permits needed for the project with Mr. Roland. 3. Ms. Nancy Claflin - Order of Conditions. A motion was made and seconded to issue a standard Order of Conditions with additional conditions pertaining to the flood plain area for the proposed dwelling to be located on Washington Street. There was no opposition. 4. Mr. Gregory Schipa - Request to Determine Applicability. A motion was made and seconded to issue a negative Determination. There was no opposition. 5. Board of Selectmen - Dredging of Polpis Harbor. The Commission voted to forward a letter to the Board requesting a professional engineer prepare plans for the dredging of Polpis HarDor. There was no opposition. 6. Jet Gas Corporation. The Commission voted to forward a letter to Jet Gas informing them of the 90 day trial period deadline and to request a representative of Jet Gas attend the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Commission. There was no opposition. 7. Richard Ryder - Reauest to Determine Applic~bility. Mr. Ryder addressed the Commission regarding the procedure of filing a Request. The Commission informed Mr. Ryder of the procedure. 8. Conservation Commission Staff Seminar. The secretary discussed the seminar she attended in Boston at Tufts University with the Commission. 9. Miacomet Pond and Sesachacha Pond Measurements. Commissioner B. Richmond provided the foll~wing information to the Commission in regard to the water levels at each pond: Miacomet Pond - at valve at pond end of pipe May 17, 1983 10 inches below beam at time of valve closing by DPW (16 inches below top of valve) May 21, 1983 water level with top of valve (16 inch rise in elevation) page 2 (Miacomet Pond measurements continued) June 2, 1983 4 inches above top of valve (total of 20" rise in elevation since closing of valve) Sesachacha Pond at pond end of concrete culvert under Polpis Road May l2, 1983 1 inch above top of culvert May 19, 1983 ~ inch above top of culvert May 26, 1983 3/4 inch below top of culvert June 2, 1983 water level with top of culvert 10. Bills. A motion was made and seconded to pay the following bills: a bill of $84.00 from Robert Marks for maintenance work, a bill of $40.00 from the Postmaster, a bill of $23.35 from the Camera Shop for film, a bill of $40.75 for office supplies and a bill of $506.72 from Island Lumber for supplies for the erosion control work at the Dionis Beach area.
