Town of Nantucket Conservation Commission Town and County Building Nantucket, Massachusetts 02554 April 7, 1983 The regular meeting of the Nantucket Conservation Commission was called to order at 7:54 PM by Chairman C. Borchert. Members present were: P. Bennett, C. Borchert, G. Burchell, B. Richmond, A. Silva and P. Waine. Members absent were: C. Pearl. 1. Minutes of the meeting of March 24, 1983. Approval of the minutes was postponed until the next regular meeting. 2. Audience to press and public, IVJr. IJfichael Bachman stated to the Commission he wished to discuss a land transaction with the Commission in Executive Session. The Committee voted to go into Executive Session later in the meeting. There was no opposition. Mr. John Shugrue, agent for J. Seward. Johnson (Order of Conditions SE48-l86) presented the Commission with a revised set of plans and questioned whether the changes in the plans were substantial enough from the original plrolS to require a new filing. The Commission voted to forward a letter stating the changes were not substantial enough to require a new filing. There was no opposition. ~~. Alexander Craig presented the Commission with a Request to Determine Applicability for property located on Polpis Harbor. The Commission accepted the Request and stated a Dete:r:mination would be issued at the next regular meeting after the Request was duly advertised in the newspaper. 118. ~~izabeth Holdgate presented the Commission with a Request to Determine Applicability for property located on Madaket Road and Grove Lane. The Commission accepted the Request ~~d stated a Dete:r:mination would be made at the next regular meeting. 3. Mr. Robert B. Blair- Lily Pondo The Commission read the field inspection report tor I"Jr. Blair's property located on North Liberty Street. A. Silva moved to \irite a letter to the Board of Selectmen requesting a representative from the Department of Public Works be present at the next meeting of the Commission and that the repreBentative provide plans of the property if possible. The motion was seconded. There was no opposition. 4. Jet.Gas - Request for Determination. The Commission discussed the Request wItn Mr. Donald Fugardo, agent for Jet Gas. A letter from the Selectmen regarding the project was read by the Chairman. There followed' discussion between the Commission and Mro Fugardo ooncerning the landing site. P. Waine moved to issue a Determination with the additional conditions (please see attached sheet). The motion was seconded. There was no opposition. 5. Town of Nantucket - Notice of Intent S 8-220. G. Burchell moved to issue a s ndard Order for the proposed project to be performed on Easy Street, A. Silva seconded the motion. There was no opposition. P. Waine moved to issue a standard. Order for Town of Nantucket - Notice of Intent SE48-227.for a proposed project on Easy street. The motion was seconded. There was no opposition. 6. John Greenleaf - Notice of Intent SE48-228. A motion was made to accept the recommendations of the field inspection team to issne a standard Order with five additio~l conditions. The motion was amended to replace the second condition with the following: Construct extension of 1982 bulkhead to east corner of property of the same height and materials as existing one except a:ny new materials used shall be treated with CCA preservatives or equivalent. Tbe motion was seconded. There was no opposition. . 7. Nautican Realty Trust - Notice of Intent SE48-226. A motion was made and seconded to accept the recommendations of the field inspection team to issue a standard Order with three additional conditions. There was no opposition. 8. Squidnet Realty - Notice of Intent SE48-222. A motion was made and seconded to issue a standard Order of Conditions with the Title V clause. There was no opposition. 9. Stephen Lindsay - Notice of Intent ., SE48-226. A motion was made and seconded to issue a standard Order with two additional conditions. There was no opposition. 10. Richard Tucker - Request to Determine Applicability. A field inspection was scheduled by the Commission. 11. Sherburne Associates - Request for Extension Permit. P. Bennett moved to issue an Extension Permit for Sherburne Associates - Order of Conditions SE48-l88 . The motio~was seconded. There was no opposition. 12. John and Barbara Pearson - Tennessee Avenue. The letter was read and placed on file. 13. Gerald Abrams - Sheep Pond Road. The letter was read and placed on file. 14. Beverly Hall - Notice of Intent SE48-222. The letter was read and placed on file. 15. County Commissioners - North Bluff. The letter concerning work to be performed for erosion control was read by the Commission. The Commission voted to forward a letter to the County Commissioners accepting the recommendations outlined in the letter and also recommending that the brushcutting of the new path be limited to 2 feet and that the old path be filled, graded and sloped back from the edge of the bluff and be vegetated. There was no opposition. 16. Michael Bachman - Land Acquisition. V~. Bachman discussed a potential land offer with the Commission. The Commission decided to wait for further information on the property before voting. There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 10:52 PM.
