Other Business Town of Nantucket Conservation Commission Town and County Building Nantucket, Massachusetts 02554 Minutes of November 21~ 1985 The public hearings of the Nantucket Conservation Commission were called to order at 7:30 p.m. Members present were: M. Arnold~ L. Dunn~ M.J. Williams~ P. Waine~ L. Leske and D. Visco. Members absent were: P. Dunwiddie. A. Public Hearings 1. Leonard Sherman - SE48-335. John Sh~grue was present as the agent. At the request of the applicant the hearing was continued for a field inspection wh.ich will be :;:heduled after hunting season. The area has been ) :-ush cut. 2. Harborside Realty Trust - Robert Epple was present as the agent. The commission requested a detailed plan of the stairway. The Commission will have a condition that no work will be done on the beach side of the wall and the applicant will use existing fill in back of the wall. D. Visco moved to continue the hearing. So voted. 3. }farion Morton - SE48-341. Glenn Wills was present as the agent. There was discussion on whether the work was to be done on a barrier beach or primary dune. Mr. Stan Humphries from IEP was present and his opinion is that it is a primary dune. A letter from Mr. Tiffanys was read. As this is the only access to the property the applicant would like to have the project done in any way the commission feels will protect her property. The Commission would like to see the road winding instead of straight and particularly in the parking area. L. Dunn moved to continue the hearing for new plans showing the road winding. So voted. 4. Danielle DeBenedictus ~ SE48-340. Glenn Wills was present as the agent. There was discussion about determining if this was a coastal bank. L. Leske moved to continue the hearing so that the Chairman could talk to a representative from DEQE. SO voted. 5. James Cabral - SE48-339. Bob Emack was presen~ as the agent. Mr. George Hull from Gregor~ Shea and Doliners office was present with Stan Humphries from IEP, they voiced their concearn with the location of the trench. The Commission felt that as the project is located within a road and is only 6 inches wide the affect on the wetland would be minimal. P. Waine moved to close the hearing. L. Leske opposedt M.J. Glenn Wills was present as the agent. DEQE question whether a 12 inch pipe would be adequate for drainage. The agent feels that it is more than adequate. L. Dunn moved to close the hearing. So voted. 7. Carl Jelleme - SE48-338. John Shugrue was present as the agent. The Commission requested that the tennis court be moved back another ten feet from the septic system and that the slope of the court be away from the wetland with a trench on the south side of it to catch any clay runoff. P. Waine moved to close the hearing. So voted. B. Regular Meeting 1. The minutes of November 7t 1985 were approved with a change being made to Design Associates Request for Determinationt noting that Lee Dunn requested an explination of what the fill was that was seen on the property. 2. Orders of Conditions: a. Carl Jelleme - SE48-338. L. Leske moved to issue an Order of Conditions with the tennis court moved an additional ten feet from the septic and the slope of the court away from the wetland with a trench on the south side to catch runoff. b. James Cabral - SE48-339. D. Visco moved to issue Orders of Conditions. The applicant must keep the trench to the east side of the road. So voted. c. Hugh Halsell - SE48-342. Lee Dunn moved to issue a Standard Order. So voted. 3. Certificates of Compliance: a. Mary Salisbury - SE48-30. The commission voted to issue a Certificate of Compliance. b. Norwood Farm Trust - SE48-52. The Commission voted to issue a Certificate of Compliance. The Commission voted to send a letter to Fire Chief, Bruce Wattst requesting a time when the work would be done. There being no further business the Commission voted to adjourn at 9:30 p.m.
