April 11, 1985
The regular meeting of the Nantucket Conservation Commission was
called to order at 8:50 p.m. Members present were: M. Arnold,
L. Leske, L. Dunn, C. Pearl, P. Waine and P. Dunwiddie. Members
absent were: A. Silva.
1.Minutes of March 28, 1985:
The minutes were approved with spelling corrections on Dunwiddie
and Pearl's names, by unanimous vote.
2. Orders of Conditions:
a. Hither Creek - The commission voted to issue an Order of Cond,.....
itions with two special conditions 1. No construction equipment
shall be allowed on the marsh at any time during the course of this
project. 2. No boat traffic shall be allowed between the finger
piers and the marsh.
b. Alpert SE-48-285 - The Commission voted to issue an Order of
Conditions with two special conditions: 1. That the well shall
be drilled with nothing larger than a small four wheel drive
vehicle drilling rig and 2. The sand dune which will be exavated
for the septic system shall be rebuilt to its current contours
and elevations and revegitated.
3. Certificate of Compliance:
a. Robert M. Kay SE48-213 - Continued for field inspection
b. Lawrence Maury SE48-100 and SE48-Lot 119 - A motion to grant
certificates of compliance for both lots was made. So voted.
4. Request for Determinations:
a. Lucy T. Eaton - a field inspection was scheduled for Monday
April 15.
5. Correspondence:
a. The chairman read a letter from Caroline Brown protesting
the proposed location of the Commercial Pier.

b. The Chairman informed the members of the commission that an
Environmental Notification Form for Nantucket's Surfside Road
Sewer Extention Project was received and is available in the
Conservation Commission office.
c. The chairman read a letter form Irene Christman protesting
the proposed location of the Commercial Pier.
d. The Chairman informed the Committee of his phone conversation
with Peter Garrett regarding the proposed planting of trees on
Warrens Landing. P. Waine motioned that the Chairman should write
a letter to Mr. Garrett thanking him for his offer but that the
Committee at this time has not come up with any final plans for
this proj ect.
6. Extentions:
a. Hubbard SE48-181 - P. Waine moved to grant an extention for
three years. So voted.
7. Other Business:
a. Committee members would like to see monthly readouts of
bills and budget at the regular meetings.
b. The commission discussed the Long Pond Realty Trust subdivision
and the need for the Commission to get legal and technical advise
on how many and how large of septic systems can safely be put in
this area that borders wetlands.
c. Mr. Bachman submitted two new plans for proposed two lot
subdivision for Cranberry Construction.
d. Mr. Bachman submitted a Notice of Intent to construct a road in
a buffer zone, off Hummock Pond Road. A field inspection was
scheduled for Monday, April 15 at 4:00 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:55 p.m.
