TYPE OF PROJECT: House and Septic System
PROJECT LOCATION: Madaket Road

PRESENT AS AGENT FOR THE O~~ER: Mr. Shugrue
The Commission requested that the House and Septic System
be staked out on the lot. The agent for the applicant, Mr. Shugrue,
agreed. There was concern over an August perc. test. Commissioner
Arnold requested that the test be done during the wet season
of the year. The hearing was continued pending more information.

The Commission agreed to accept revised plans showing the
building moved toward the beach. The applicant stated that she does
not have time for variances and must begin the project immediately.
There was considerable discussion concerning the proximaty of the
building to the bank. It was agreed that the Commission would
try to contact the Building Inspector to see about.eliminating
two parking places so that the building could be placed closer
to Washington Street and further from the beach. This idea
is outlined in a third plan introduced by Mr. Bachman.
Commissioner Dunn questioned the difference between the effects
of a house footprint on bank erosion and a parking area in the
same spot. Commissioner Arnold requested information on roof
drainage and gutter systems if the house were moved. Commissioner
Arnold read three letters from abutter objecting
to the first plan showing the parking lot behind the existing
cottage. The hearing was continued until January 17, 1985.

There was ageneral discussion concerning the proximaty
of houses in lots 7 and 8 to Cow Pond. Commission Leske guestioned
the exact location of the Parking areas for the propoed
duplexes. The hearing was continued until the units in lots
7 and 8 are staked and the Commissioners view them.

There was considerable discussion concerning whether the
project meets Title V. The perculation test was done in September
and the distance from the system to the edge of the water of Hummock
Pond seemed excessive to the Commission. The Commission voted
to continue the hearing for more information concerning water
levels and Title V variances.

The Commission voted to accept the field inspection report
without the recommendation that a culvert be installed in the
low area between lots three and four. The hearing was closed.

The regular meeting of the Nantucket Conservation Commission was called
to order at 8:40 p.m. by the Chairman. Members present were: M. Arnold,
C. Borchert, L. Leske, L. Dunn, C. Pearl. Members absent: P. Waine, A. Silva.
1. Planning Board Referral:
Woodbury Lane - The Commission voted to recommend to the Planning
Board that most of the lot is subject to the Wetlands Protection Act.
In addition the Commission is concerned about the occurance of surface
and subsurface water flow on the property. Mr. Robert Blair was present
and reinteratted his concern about the drainage problems in that area.
2. Minutes of December 20, 1984:
C. Pearl moved to accept the minutes as written. So voted.
3. Order of Conditions:
Stuart Steele SE48-273: The Commission voted to issue an Order of
Conditions with several strong Special Conditions concerning foundation
plans and as built drawings. The Commission felt the house should be
moved back from it's proposed location five feet and this was made
part of the Order.
4. Determination:
a. Kehlenbeck - C. Pearl moved to issue a Negative Determination for this
proj ect.
5. Requests for Determination:
a. Fraker - The Commission scheduled a field inspection for this project
near Salti Way. The Chairman will contact the agent for the applicant to
insure that the proposed house is staked out on the lot.
b. wnelden - The Commission voted to issue a positive determination
for the project located off Surfside Road.
6. Extensions:
a. Comer - The Commission voted to postpone action on this request
until next week so that members can review the plans.
7. Planning Board Referrals:
a. Juliano - The Commission voted to recommend that this plan is not

8. Correspondence:
a. Cape Cod Coalition of Conservation Commissioners. The Commission
voted to join this organization.
b. The Commission recieved a letter from the Bureau of Land Use concerning
a Fruition Program.
9. Other Business:
The Commission discussed the Warren's Landing project and directed the Cha-
irman to sign a Cooperative Agreement with the Nantucket Conservation
District. There being no futher official business L. Dunn moved adjourment.
So voted at 10:06 p.m.
