Answering Machine Bill Town of Nantucket Conservation Commission Town and County Building Nantucket, Massachusetts 02554 Minutes of March 20. 1986 The public hearings of March 20. 1986 were called to order at 7:30 p.m. Members present were: M. Arnold. L. Dunn. P. Waine. P. Dunwiddie. D. Visco and L. Leske. Members absent were: M.J. Williams. A. Public Hearings 1. Leonard Sherman - SE48-335. The hearing was continued for more definative plans. 2. Harborside Realty Trust - The hearing was continued for a file number to be issued from DEQE. 3. Alexander Craig Jr. - SE48-346. At the request of the applicant the application was withdrawn. 4. Earle M. Draig Jr. - Kimball Ave. Lee Dunn moved to continue the hearing and schedule a field inspection for Monday. March 24. 1986 B. Regular Meeting 1. The minutes of February 27. 1986 were approved by unanimous vote. 2. The revised notes of February 13. 1986 were approved by unanimous vote. 3. Requests for Determination a. Christopher Maury - Wamasquid Place - The commission voted to have the applicant complete his filing. b. Dix C. Shevalier Jr. - 39 Baxter Road. D. Visco moved to issue a negative determination and to check number two stating the work described is within an area subject to protection under the act. but will not remove. fill. dredge. or alter that area. Therefore.said work does not require the filing of a Notice of Intent. So voted. c. Gerald Buzanoski - Orange Street. A field inspection was scheduled for Monday. March 24. 1986 d. Design Associates - Hallowell Lane - The applicant would like to create a dune. The commission asked the applicant to stake the height of the dune so they can compare it to the existing dune located on the lot next door. A field inspection was scheduled for Monday. March 24. 1986 e. Weston & Sampson Engineers - Surfside Road. P. Waine moved to issue a negative determination and to check number two stating:the work described is within an area subject to protection under the act. but will not remove. fill. dredge. or alter that area. Field Inspections - were scheduled for Monday March 31,1986 for a) Ken Cross and Joan Barr - Crows Nest Way and b) Rick Kotala - Miacome t. 5. Audience to Press in Public a. John Roe was present to seek the support of the Commission on articles 18 and 19 on the Town Warrant, which would change the zoning laws, restricting new construction in Zone B of the flood plain maps. P. Waine moved to hold a public hearing on this issue for April 10, 1986. D. Visco opposed, all others in favor. So voted. 6. Planning Board Referrals a. Cedar Crest Trust - Millers Way. The commission voted to advise the Planning Board that the area is not subject to protection under the Ac t. b. Cedar Crest Trust - Old South Road and Macy Lane - The commission voted to advise the Planning Board that the area is not subject to protection under the Act. c. Yankee Realty Trust - Marcus Way. The commission voted to advise the Planning Board that the area is not subject to protection under the Act. 7. Correspondence - All correspondence on the agenda of March 20, 1986 was read. 8. Other Business a. Hither Creek Boatyard - It was brought to the attention of the commission that the materials being dredged were being deposited in an area other than what was approved by the commission. The commission voted to have the Chairman write a letter to John Manning asking for plans of any changes in the project. b. Telephone Budget - The Commission voted to allow the Town Accountant to remove the balance remaining in the current telephone budget and place it in a newly created line item for paying the telephone bills. c. The Commission voted to approve payment for a telephon@ answering machine for the office. d. Warren's Landing - The Commission agreed to meet tenatively on Tuesday, March 25, 1986 with Fire Chief, Bruce Watts, as a group to see if they could get immediate action regarding the burning at Warren's Landing. There was discussion about getting members of the community to volunteer machinery and time in helping with the burying of stumps. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
