Town of Nantucket Conservation Commission Town and County Building Nantucket, Massachusetts 02554 Minutes of February 27, 1986 The public hearings of February 27, 1986 were called to order at 7:30 p.m. Members present were: L. Leske, L. Dunn~ P. Dunwiddie, M.J. Williams and D. Visco. Members absent were: P. Waine and M. Arnold. A. Public Hearings: 1. Leonard Sherman - SE48-335. At the request of the agent, John Shugrue~ P. Dunwiddie moved to continue the hearing. So voted. 2. Harborside Realty Trust - A file number has not been issued from DEQE P. Dunwiddie moved to continue the hearing. So voted. 3. Robert McGrath - SE48-345. There was much discussion about the possibility of the Town taking the county road so that the applicant could use this as a legal access. D. Visco assured the other members that the County Commissioners are very reluctant to take any more roads as the cost of maintance is so great. There was also discussion on the impact that the road will have on wildlife in the area due to the increase in traffic. Lee Dunn moved to close the hearing. So voted. 4. Alexander Craig Jr. - SE48-346. Polpis Road. Mr. Craig and Wes Tiffany were present. The commission advised the applicant to have an engineer gather the information needed on the the areas that are to be filled as there is more than 500 sq. ft. of wetlands to be filled and more areas to be filled than the applicant has included on the Notice of Intent. At the request of the applicant Lee Dunn moved to continue the hearing. So voted. B. Regular Meeting: 1. The commission asked to have the minutes of February 13~ 1986 revised showing that an informal discussion took place and not a formal meeting as there was no quorum for that date. 2. The minutes of January 30, 1986 were approved by unanimous vote. 3. Requests for Determination: a. Michael Driscoll - Wauwinet. L. Dunn moved to issue a positive determination~ stating that the area is subject to protection under the Act. So voted. 5. Orders of Conditions: a. Robert McGrath - SE48-345. D. Visco moved to issue a Standard Order of Conditions allowing the project as planned. The commission voted to check flood control and prevention of pollution as presumptions of significance to the Act~ and all interests of significance to the local by-law. 6. Certificate of Compliance a. J. Seward Johnson - SE48-186. L. Dunn moved to issue a Certificate of Compliance. So voted. 7. Audience to press in public: a. Allen Holdgate was present to voice his concearn on filling of wetlands in the Austin Farm Development. The commission scheduled a field inspection for Friday~ February 28~ 1986. 8. Field Inspections: a. Weston & Sampson Engineers - Surfside Road - Each member is to view this on there own time. b. Katherine Neerie - Caroline Way. The commission asked to have a letter sent to Ms. Nerrie asking her for an updated plot plan and locus map, and to have the area flagged befor scheduling a field inspection. 9. Correspondence: all correspondence on the agenda was read 10. Other Business a. Harvey B. Mathews - SE48-300. HDC asked Mr. Mathews if he would change his entrance to his property from Polpis road to Quidnet Road. The commission voted to advise Mr. Matthews that they believe that the original Orders of Conditions which allows access from the Polpis Rd. is the least detrimental to the wetlands and would not advise changing the access. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9:30
