The meeting was opened at 4:38 p.m. by Chairman
with the following Commissioners present: Alexa
Ronald Santos.
The Minutes of the June 17, 1987 meeting were unanimously
approved with a change in the next to last paragraph to read:
"The Commission discussed the various plans submitted by Sasaki
Associates for the development of the Bunker area. It was M/S/P
to accept Plan "A" and proceed with the first phase in the design
of the major commercial development."
A presentation was made to past Chairman Robert W. Allen In
recognition of his 19+ years of service on the Airport
Commission.
The nomination of a new Chairman was postponed until a full
Commission is present.
Mr. Ray Conlon of Nantucket Windmill attended the meeting to
discuss improvements to his area. He presented a drawing of new
doors for his area to make it more accessible and aesthetically
beautiful. He would also like to have his lease extended from
the present month-to-month basis. The Commission will keep his
proposal on file and hope to incorporate it with the joining of
the Tower to the Main Terminal Building.
The Manager presented a drawing of the bunker area, as supplied
by Sasaki Associates.
The Commission was supplied an executive outline of the bunker
area leases. Copies of the complete leases will be supplied to
each of the Commission before the next meeting.
A letter was read from Budget Rent-a-car expressing his continued
interest in leasing office space from the Commission. It ~as
proposed to have Bill McGrath's flight school reservations
handled by Mr. Perry, who will also be handling his rent-a-car

proceeding the meeting will not be considered until the
following regular meeting.
Under operations, the Hanager into:nl\;c"l the Commission that
515,000,000. has been voted by the Hause and into the budget for
Nantucket's radar system. If it passes the Senate, the
installation could be as early as October 1. In addition to
Congressman Studds and Senator Kerry being sent thank you notes
for their support in this endeavor, it was agreed that Hr. Frank
Lorenzo and several other large corporations be writtea
acknowledging their assistance.
The terminal lease agreement, as submitted by Town Counsel, was

The Manager discussed the installation of the new security gates
and perhaps putting an ad in the newspaper to inform the users of
the Airport that this system will be in effect shortly, in order

The parking lot for the custom~rs of HcGratll Aviation will be
open at the same time that the security gates go down. It was

The Commission discussed the minimum standards for the FEO. It
was aqr~ed that a public meetinq will be held to discuss this a~

Hr. McGrath wanted to go on record th~t SlDce PBA has split

there is a real safety problem. The ManaQer stated he has been
working with Continental Express on r~rp safety, pRrkjng and
traffic flow, since the inccp~ion of Lheir split operation last
