The members approved the~tes ~3 September with two corrections; John Johnson was present, not absent, attd ~e spelBlig of Chief Lucey's name was corrected. ~ . ::s :=0 ;;::lI:: \0 Mrs. Beck reported that Town Manager Gibson apologized for delaying her meeting~ith BMAC but has now agreed to come to the BMAC meeting on 18 October if nothing else demands her attention then. She agrees BMAC should be allowed to see a financial accounting of the Beach Driving Permit funds. Mrs. Beck also spoke about the Town Manager's remarks at the Annual Meeting of the Nantucket Civic League on 17 September, particularly her plan to organize similar town departments under one Director for each group so that departments with common issues can be aware of each other's role in the operations and perhaps discuss with each other problems to be solved. These discussions can save the Town Manager time and help give clear responses to the departments more quickly. The members were pleased to hear that they would be able to see an accounting of the Beach Driving Permit monies. Mrs. Beck reminded the members that the money is not for BMAC to use, only for knowing where it is spent. In response to Mr. Leddy's concerns, Mrs. Beck agreed that these expenditures are a matter of public record but so scattered among various departments that it takes considerable time to search all the bills out, thereby causing some irritation on the part of the Finance Department when receiving such a request. Mr. Leddy asked about protests regarding noise involved in beach cleaning operations. Mrs. Beck noted that the Town asked Mr. Powers not to clean with his tractor so early in the morning as to disturb residents still asleep. Mrs. Ray suggested that a longer rake be used by the Parks Department in cleaning the trash around the concession building at Children's Beach. Mr. Leddy reported that a large group of citizens worry about the amount of poison ivy around the steps at Fisherman's Beach. Mrs. Ray asked if the Sconset Sewer Beds were open or closed. Should there be parking there if they are considered still open? Mrs. Beck will check but thinks they are to be used only as a reserve for the new installation. After some discussion about future agendas the members agreed not to meet again until October 11. Respectfully submitted, with notes from Tom Dickson, Maureen Beck, Chair
