Mr. Johnson announced that he would have to leave the meeting early. The Minutes of 9 August 2007 were approved after those present voted to change one word on page 3 of the Minutes, i.e., in paragraph 3 "rules" should be changed to "language." Mrs. Beck will make that change and ask members all to do so in the Minutes they have received so as not to waste paper. She wiH make new copies with the change for her records and the Town Clerk's. Since the Beach Manager had to be elsewhere, there was no Beach Report. Mrs. Beck wondered if any new information was available regarding the catering on Nobadeer Beach or the fire permits for grilling there. Mrs. Ray recommended she call the Board of Health to see if they had investigated. Mrs. Beck reported a number of complaints from Surfside and Nobadeer beach property owners about beachgoers defecating and urinating in public at their steps or in the dunes. In the only instance when an A TV patrol appeared, the owners asked him to speak to the offenders. However, the attitude of the offenders was far from polite as they blamed their actions on the lack of toilets available. Mrs. Beck also received reports about the numbers of grills on the beach without permits to cook. Mr. Johnson replied that both these ofJenses are occurring on Miacomet and, no doubt, on other beaches as well. Mrs. Beck said that she had e-mailed the Beach Manager and Officer Carnevale about these instances and received a prompt reply from the latter that he had alerted his patrols. The members oftered comments on the responsibility ofbeachgoers and questioned the need of porta potties along such a large stretch of beach. Mrs. Beck presented a draft of a report to the BOS regarding public comment received on dog issues at the 9 August meeting. Since Mr. Leddy and Mr. Dickson were unable to be present, she suggested the members discuss the draft at the next meeting on 23 August. Furthermore, she remarked that, as she wrote it, she tett it too fulsome for the scant amount of input the guests had contributed. She wondered if, perhaps, it might not be better for BMAC simply to send a copy of the 9 August meeting as the report with an FYI addendum. Mrs. Beck announced before adjourning the meeting at 4:35 pm that a University of Florida Preservation Study this summer has just designated the Jetties Beach Pavilion as a historic building. The documents and photos will arrive shortly with more information. The University has awarded the Parks & Recreation Commission a certificate of recognition for allowing them to do the research on the building. Respectfully submitted, with notes from Edie Ray, Maureen Beck, Chair
