Minutes for the Meeting of
July 10, 2001

The meeting was held in the Town Building Conference Room, 16 Broad Street,
Nantucket, MA 02554. Members present were: Neville RichE:m, Richard
Brannigan, Patricia Butler, Frank Spriggs, Barry Rector, Norman Chaleki. Also
present was Town Administrator Libby Gibson, Mark Voigt and Christine
Silverstein.
1. Call to Order. Ms. Gibson called the meeting to order at 4:10pm.
2. Election of Officers. Mr. Spriggs nominated Mr. Rector as Chairman;
seconded by Mr. Richen. There were no further nominations. So voted. Mr.
Richen nominated Ms. Butler as Vice-Chair; seconded by Mr. Brannigan. There
were no further nominations. So voted. Mr. Brannigan nominated Mr. Chaleki as
Secretary; seconded by Mr. Rector. There were no further nominations. So voted.
3. Establishment of Meetina Schedule. After discussion, it was generally
agreed that Tuesdays at 3:30 pm were a convenient meeting time; and, that
meetings would be kept to one hour, if at all possible. The next meeting was
scheduled for Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at 3:30 pm in the Town Building
conference room.
4. '. Review of Open Meetina Law~ Ms. Gibson reviewed the Open Meeting
Law and noted that copies of the law and a booklet about it are available in the
Town Clerk's office.
5. Review of Committee Mission. Discussion followed regarding: who the
Committee should meet with, how a "process" should be established, when
actual funds will be available. Ms. Gibson was asked to provide various
information, including a guideline from the Department of Revenue, the town
meeting warrant articles establishing the committee and accepting the Act.
6. Other Business. There was no other business.
7. Adiournment. The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 4:45 pm.
