The members approved the Minutes of28 JQie 2007 after a vote to correct the name Calabrese to Carnevale for Police Officer Chris':"';' .!::>- Carnevale. The Beach Manager's report: The 4th of July was a demanding holiday. Nobadeer beach yielded 30 bags of trash, too much for the container. Mr. Leddy added his share of trash picked up at the end of the day there The parking lot there was full early and vehicles filled the sides of the roads. The crowd seemed to be the largest ever. After all, it is a special day. Everywhere the situation was horrible with bad behavior by beach goers. Particularly disturbing were the number of private fireworks at residences along the shores and inland even though the State of Massachusetts bans such fireworks and the piping plovers are endangered by the fire hazards as well as properties. Mrs. Ray agreed that the problem is getting worse every year. She wonders how the fireworks reached the island. Enforcement agencies need to be more watchful, and the BOS, the police and fire departments and the environmental officer need to expand the education of the public about these follies Mrs. Beck asked ifBMAC should address the issue in Public Comment at BOS. Mr. Carlson believes that the enforcement agencies are going to present a united concern there themselves that the issue is bigger than just fireworks on the beaches. Members hope that these Town agencies can publicize warnings early next June before the net July 4th. They also agreed with Mr. Carlson that the beaches having the most trouble with behavior and crowds should have an A TV patrol dedicated only to those beaches and not roving. Suggestions that the airport Commission should be approached to take a hand in managing Nobadeer brought little enthusiasm from the members. Mrs. Ray worried about the driving and parking at Eel Point. Some vehicles are parking on wetlands. The narrow approach at the turn from Warren's Landing Road Caused by the center island is obstructed by cars parking around it and on both sides of the approach. No emergency vehicle could get to the beach there. Mrs., Beck announced that the July 19 meeting will be held in the Selectmen's small conference room in the Town Building. She has yet to hear from the Assistant Town Manager about the questions on easements and an open meeting about dogs on beaches. The introduction to the Annual Report was approved for final draft with clarifications about BMAC's efforts to solicit citizen comments and its nature as an advisory committee. Some revisions were offered in new paragraphs introduced to finish the text of the Report. Mr. Johnson noted that the Independent had stopped listing BMAC meetings in the paper's weekly schedule of meetings. Mrs. Beck will call to ask that they be reinstated. The next meeting will be on Thursday, July 12. Respectfully submitted, with notes from John Johnson, Maureen Beck, Chair
