Members Present: Maureen Beck, Chair, Torn Dickson, Edie Ray, Colin Leddy; Beach Manager Jeff Carlson Mrs. Beck convened the meeting at 4:07 p.m. The members approved the Minutes of30 November 2006. Beach Manager's Report: Fisherman's Beach steps at last have been repaired. Still, many other beach access points are in bad shape. In order to repair them, a list has to be submitted to the Conservation Commission for permits to undertake the repairs, a lengthy business. Mr. Carlson will talk with Peggy Fantozzi to see what could speed the process up. The gully at the end ofHurnrnock Pond Road concerns Mrs. Ray because vehicles could drop off onto the beach. Mr. Carlson will look at properties on both sides of the road there to determine where some parking might be created. Mr. Leddy pointed out that the established parking just before the end of the road is hindered by a rough road approach. Mr. Dickson noted that for years there has been a need for more parking in that area. Mrs. Beck asked if some access points were in worse condition than others. He and Mr. Leddy agreed that Fisherman's had been one of the most necessary to fix. Mrs. Ray suggested Mr. Carlson pick two dangerous ones and move ahead with them. Mr. Carlson was reluctant to do repairs now because of the changes to the beaches over the winter. He was also looking at new materials, like the mat put in place of a boardwalk at the Jetties playground, which could potentially be less expensive and more durable for such places as the Dionis Beach approach. Mrs. Ray asked about the new storage building diminishing parking space at Jackson Point. Mr. Carlson will look at possible parking by the Smith Point ranger's shack. Mrs. Beck will ask Allen Reinhard, Chair of the Rights of Way Committee if the roads at Jackson Point are public. Mrs. Beck announced that 12,000 beach driving brochures would arrive at the police station next week. She will alert the station when they are shipped. Mrs. Ray doubts if the beach stickers have arrived yet. g _,I Mrs. Beck announced that Chief Pittman would corne to our next meetiii'tm Jan~ 11, 2007.
