The Minutes of 19 April 2007 were approved unanimously. Mrs. Beck made several announcements: On Sunday, Earth Day, April 22, two students and three adults from the High School Surf Club picked up considerable trash at Surfside beach sites. Mr. John Braginton-Smith of the DPW, who volunteered his time for the event, picked up th~ags. Mrs. Beck wrote letters of thanks from both BMAC and Parks & Recreation to Mr. Braginton-Smith, Mr. Willett, the DPW Director, to Tim Psaradelis, the ~\risor of tine Surf Club and the participants. Mrs. Beck also thanked Mr. Leddy for assisting in :: monitoring the trash and overseeing its pick-up. Mrs. Beck took two w&llets discoWred in the beachside brush to the Police Department. ~; 2::; Mrs. Beck reported that Mr. Manchester at Parks & Recreation did not seem upset when she reported that pay phones did not work at either Jetties or Surfside Beach~ The members agreed that Mr. Flaherty at Verizon might be able to offer some advice for repairing phones at beach sites. They remarked on the importance of having an emergency phone available at such locations. Members will continue to meet weekly during the month of May. The Annual Report for the Committee is due July 31 at the Assistant Town Manager's Office. Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Beck discussed the 18 April meeting of the Conservation Commission regarding the Sconset Bluff project, agreeing that the interchanges between the ConCom and island conservationists and the Project Team were lively and well informed. An inventory of that debris on the beaches is increasingly important as documentation of the problems ofthe Project. A discussion of drafting a letter to the Town Manager regarding BMAC's priorities for beach management ensued. Mrs. Ray wrote her draft as a request for a meeting to advise us on these suggestions for the BaS. Our proposals are a more realistic way oflooking at BMAC tasks as an important support for the most valuable asset in the Town's tourist economy. The members requested that Mrs. Beck take Mrs. Ray's and revise it as a request for a meeting at which the particular priorities could be discussed. The next meeting will be 3 May 2007 at the Land Bank. Respectfully submitted, with notes from Edie Ray, Maureen Beck
