Ms Ruhe pointed out the importance of the Youth hostel as a point of access for people who otherwise would not be able to afford to visit and stay on Nantucket. Approximately 40% of their guests are youth groups and at the start of the season they also provide an interim housing facility for temporary summer workers as they find their summer lodgings. The presenters indicated that they would work with the Nantucket Housing Office in setting the rents for the units so that the rent for the units would be within the guidelines to qualify as affordable housing so that it could be counted towards the new 40B Guidelines re the creation of rental units for the community. rr::--. \- ',' The Committee asked if this was an all or nothing request.
