Minutes of the Meeting of the Auto Limitations Study Committee of December 5,
2006. The meeting took place in the conference room of the Town and County
Building, 16 Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members ofthe committee
present: Whitey Willauer, Matt Fee, Christine Silverstein, Paula Leary Mike
Burns, Alan Brown and John Wagley. Nat Lowell was absent. Jack Gardner,
Carol Cross and Dual Macintyre also attended.
Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 2:14 p.m. with a quorum
present.
Approval of Minutes from the November 28. 2006 MeetinQ. Mr. Burns moved
approval of the minutes from the November 28, 2006 meeting; seconded by Mr.
Fee. So voted.
Dual Macintyre presented the committee with the Tom Nevers Civic Association
survey "Topic: Proposed Vehicle Permitting System, Its Impact, Its Alternatives".
Mr. Macintyre stated the results were to base limiting on weight, the great the
weight the higher the fee, and the fees could be used to support public
transportation and the advantage to weight based limiting is overtime would lead
to smaller vehicles and people wouldn't bring as many cars and that would help
limit vehicles. Mr. Brown asked about shuttle parking for the Tom Nevers area.
Mr. Macintyre commented that preliminary discussions were taking place with the
Conservation Foundation to provide a park and ride lot.
Develop General Outline and Format of Recommendations and Presentation.
The committee went through the draft recommendations and presentation and
made changes. Mr. Burns and Ms. Leary will work on making these changes
and adding a bibliography and including parking and congestion discussion that
the committee reached consensus on. A recommendation and presentation will
be finalized at the December 12,2006 meeting. Ms. Leary will make the
presentation to the Board of Selectmen on December 20th, committee members
will be present.
Other Business. There was no other business discussed.
Adiournment. Ms. Silverstein moved approval at 3:26 p.m.; seconded by Mr.
Wagley. So voted. d
