The Minutes of31August were approved unanimously. Beach Manager's Report: All beach employees, including lifeguards, have left. He is continuing a careful inventory of beach access conditions and needs for repairs, among them stairs, railings, and trash barrels. Fisherman's Beach steps are in dangerous condition. The Committee discussed ways to involve the DPW more in carrying out the important repairs, which are constantly brought to their attention but overlooked. Perhaps when the monthly meetings of departments are resumed, Mr. Carlson or Mrs. Beck, if she is invited, could address the problem. He sees no need for patrols to continue on a regular basis into the off-seasons. Several members urged that patrolling take place when high school functions are prominent on week-ends and during after school hours until dusk when private ATV's often take to the beaches. If necessary, he will do the patrolling himself It will be important to keep off Miacomet after September 15 because of the severe erosion there. Members mentioned that in the shooting range east ofthe airport there is often ATV activity and dumping. Others mentioned that beach stickers should be checked on the beaches all year round Regarding the new beach driving map, members should be ready to suggest new changes at the 26 October meeting and to draw up a list of island officials to corne and advise the Committee on changes or issues throughout the winter. The new map should be available by January for the public. Mrs. Ray urged that a new photo replace the old one on the map. Mr. Carlson also spoke of his intention to undertake a new program of dune profiling which will define and verify the changes as they are mapped. It will tie into g other maps recording flooding and erosion on island. He will focus on the~6nth Shore from Smith's Point east to Low Beach first; then look at the North Shore later. Mrs.~y heartily supported this program. Mrs. Beck commented that projects suchasthis and-;fue inventory for repairs are important components ofBMAC's service.. U1 :J;:::l Members requested that he provide the Committee with a report on sticker sales at t~ 14 September meeting. Should the yearly fee be increased? Police report no ATV's we~ broken this year.
