Young- intention should be that two signs joined together to appear as one sign, as opposed to a ladder sign. Cutone- no concerns Kuester- no concerns. Sign is 38 in in lenght Kuester-concerned that the length of the sign would be too large for existing bracket at the new location 18A Federal St. Context of other signage at location important. Might need a Master Sign Plan. Suggested to hang it temporarily and take a picture of it to get a sense of scale. Young- bracketing is the concern-the previous location picture does not show the length of the sign and how it relates to the bracket. Could see this approvable with an extended bracket-would need to modify the application. Cutone-google maps shows bracket at previous location more appropriate. Proposed bracket is shorter. Bracket is undersized. Wolf- no comment Motion to Hold for Revisions to amend the bracket description and submit picture of sign as suggested made by Kuester; seconded by Wolf. 4-0//Cutone, Wolf, Kuester and Young 4-0 aye. Wanted to use small lighting. Cutone-took a view if building. Suggested to use black not gold due to visa issue Kuester-agrees with black color and placement Wolf-agrees with what has been said Young-agrees Motion to Approve with the color changed to black made by Wolf; seconded by Cutone 4-0//Cutone, Wolf, Kuester and Young- aye Sign Advisory Council Comment Sheet Date: 4/20/21 Members present: Chris Young, Mark Cutone, Paul Wolf and Kevin Kuester Applicant: NANTUCKET HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION Representing: CARA MARQUIS Address of proposed sign: 12 STRAIGHT WHARF Sign Name: THOMAS MACY WHAREHOUSE Type of proposed sign ( )Wall Mount (X)Projecting ( )Free standing( )Rock ()Other Location (on property) of proposed sign: ( X )Entrance to building ( )Rear of building ( )Side elevation ( )Other Comments/Recommendations: Marquis-will make a Master Sign Plan if needed. Young- questioned additional tenants. Remembers 2 projecting sign before with previous tenants. Projecting signs in those locations might not be possible with this middle projecting sign on a Master Sign Plan. Three projecting signs across this facade would not be typical. Kuester-questioned if whale is 3D. Will edge be a painted band and/or beveled edge Wolf-concern is future tenants- Master Sign Plan possible. Noticed other brackets. Suggested removing other brackets. Cutone-great example of bracket relationship to sign size Motion to Approve with removal of extraneous brackets and this is the only approved sign for the building made by Kuester; seconded by Wolf. 4-0//Cutone, Wolf, Kuester and Young- aye Sign Advisory Council Comment Sheet Date: 4/20/21 Members present: Chris Young, Mark Cutone, Paul Wolf and Kevin Kuester Applicant: NANTUCKET HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION Representing: CARA MARQUIS Address of proposed sign: 15 BROAD ST Sign Name: THE MUSEUM SHOP Type of proposed sign ( )Wall Mount (X )Projecting ( )Free standing( )Rock ()Other Location(on property) of proposed sign: ( N )Entrance to building ( )Rear of building ( )Side elevation ( )Other Comments/Recommendations: MARQUIS- owners prefer projecting sign at this location versus Discover Center Projecting Sign Signs are slightly over the size for the building MC- buildings are unique-suggested signs being reflective of building. Identical signs within a few feet of each other. Suggests modifying signs a bit. Suggests one of the signs be a wall sign. Would address variation and scale. A rectangular sign would be an option for either location. Kuester-agrees with Cutone. Sign is approvable. Anticipating additional signage with NHA prop and hours of operation. Could use different shape for Discovery Center. Wolf-agrees with what's been said. Young- Discovery Center should be 4 square feet on a 1 story bldg. Reduced in size to match scale of building.
