HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-8-2004 1 PM COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Minutes of the Meeting of 8 December 2004 at 1:00 PM. The meeting took place at the intersection of Milestone Road and Old South Road, Water Company Parking Lot, Nantucket. Members of the Commission present were Bruce Watts, Timothy Soverino, Robert F. Murphy, and Michael Glowacki. Douglas Bennett was absent. Chairman Glowacki called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM. Also present were Senior Planner Andrew Vorce and Projects Administrator Colleen Donnelly. Viewing of Public Way Known as Milestone/Old South Road Bicycle Path Connector. Donald and Gertrude Holdgate expressed their concerns regarding the connector path being too close to property owned by them and other family members. Mr. Holdgate was specifically concerned about a loss of privacy in the backyards of various properties. Mr. Vorce submitted a letter that was written to the Commissioners by Attorney Joe Guay, who represents the Holdgate families. Mr. Vorce noted that the letter states the Holdgate families would grant voluntary easements for the Old South bicycle path if the Commissioners agree to implement changes to the design of the Connector bike path. Mr. Murphy moved to agree to the conditions of said letter, dated December 7, 2004; seconded by Mr. Soverino. So voted unanimously. Mr. Murphy moved that the County send a thank you letter to Mr. and Mrs. Holdgate for the easements they have granted for the Old South Road bicycle path; seconded by Mr. Watts. So voted unanimously. Viewing of Old South Road Bicycle Path. The Commissioners and staff proceeded to four areas that were the subject of easement takings. Mary Ann Egan, owner of 72 Old South Road, was present and stated her reasons for not granting a voluntary easement. Ms. Egan stated she has no objection to the County taking the easement. There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 1:27 PM. Approved the 9th day of February 2005.
