Minutes of the Meeting of 8 December 2004 at 7:00 PM. The meeting took place in the Court Room, Town
and County Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present were Bruce Watts,
Timothy Soverino, Robert F. Murphy and Michael Glowacki. Douglas Bennett was absent. Chairman
Glowacki called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM,following a meeting of the Board of Selectmen.
Approval of Minutes 21 July 2004. So voted by consensus of the Commission.
Public Hearing , pursuant to the Authority of Massachusetts General Laws Chapters 82 and 79,All as
Shown on Plan Entitled"Old South Road Bicycle Path Right-of-Way,"to Consider the Lay Out and Taking of
Public Way Known as the Old South Road Bicycle Path. Chairman Glowacki opened the hearing and asked
whether any individual was present who wished to speak in favor of,or in opposition to the matter. Planning
Director John Pagini spoke in favor and explained the proposed timetable for the completion of the bicycle
path. Projects Administrator Colleen Donnelly provided a brief summary of the project, noting the specific
areas where the layout of Old South Road is proposed. Chairman Glowacki closed the hearing. No action
was taken as additional easements must be acquired which will require additional public hearings.
Public Hearing, pursuant to the Authority of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 82,All as Shown on Plan
Entitled "Plan and Profile of the Proposed Milestone/Old South Road Bicycle Path Connector"to Consider
the Layout and Acceptance of Public Way Known as the"Milestone/Old South Road Bicycle Path
Connector."Chairman Glowacki opened the hearing and asked if any individual was present who wished to
speak in favor of,or in opposition to the matter. Senior Planner Andrew Vorce spoke in favor and provided a
brief explanation of the connector path. Chairman Glowacki closed the hearing and by consent of the
Commission, staff and Town Counsel were instructed to prepare the necessary legal documents to
complete the layout of the Milestone/Old South Bicycle Road Path Connector.
Public Hearing, pursuant to Section 2.5 of the Nantucket County Charter,to Acquire Real Estate Interests.
By consent of the Commission,the following consent of entry, and temporary and permanent easements
were accepted, and the Chairman,on behalf of the Commission, was authorized to send letters of thanks to
those individuals who granted the easements: 1)consent of entry granted by the Nantucket Water
Commission for bicycle path purposes at 1 Milestone Road; 2)one permanent and one temporary easement
granted by Richard J. Glidden,Trustee of 580 Realty Trust u/d/t for bicycle path purposes at 102 Old South
Road; 3)three temporary easements granted by Warren G.Valero and Richard A. Valero,Trustees of
Valero Realty Trust u/d/t for bicycle path purposes at 64, 66 and 68 Old South Road;4)two temporary
easements granted by Warren Valero, Richard A. Valero and Kenneth G. Valero for bicycle path purposes
at 60 and 62 Old South Road; 5)one permanent easement and one temporary easement granted by Marcio
David Dos Santos at 104 Old South Road; 6)one permanent easement and one temporary easement
granted by William McGuire and Stephen Theroux, Trustees for MT Nominee Trust for bicycle path
purposes at 2 Mary Ann Drive, and 7)one permanent easement and one temporary easement granted by
Patama Thairatana for bicycle path purposes at 108 and 1081/2 Old South Road.
There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7:55
PM.
