HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-10-2004 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Minutes of the Meeting of 10 November 2004 at 7:00 PM. The meeting took place in the Court Room, Town and County Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present were Bruce Watts, Douglas Bennett, Robert F. Murphy and Michael Glowacki. Timothy Soverino was absent. Chairman Glowacki called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Approval of Minutes 27 October 2004. Mr. Watts moved approval; seconded by Mr. Bennett. So voted. PUBLIC COMMENT Siasconset resident Bud Doble inquired when the matter of addressing the issue of the access road to and from the Siasconset Treatment Facility for sludge transport will be addressed, and submitted a petition signed by Siasconset residents opposing the use of Low Beach Road as the access route. Mr. Doble was advised that this is a matter to be addressed by the Board of Selectmen. Public Hearing, pursuant to Section 2.5 of the Nantucket County Charter, Concerning Proposed Acquisitions of Real Estate Interests for One Temporary Easement Granted by Alan R. MacVicar for Sidewalk Purposes at 38 Vesper Lane; One Permanent and One Temporary Easement Granted by Gary E. and Kelli Trainor for Bicycle Path Purposes at 106 Old South Road; One Temporary Easement Granted by Lee H. Dunn and Tharon Dunn for Bicycle Path Purposes at 54R Old South Road. Chairman Glowacki opened the hearing and asked if any individual was present who wished to speak in favor of, or in opposition to the acquisitions. There was no response and Chairman Glowacki closed the hearing. Mr. Watts moved to accept a temporary easement granted by Alan MacVicar for sidewalk purposes at 38 Vesper Lane, seconded by Mr. Murphy. So voted. Mr. Murphy moved to accept one permanent and one temporary easement granted by Gary E. and Kelli Trainor for bicycle path purposes at 106 Old South Road; seconded by Mr. Bennett. So voted. Mr. Watts moved to accept one temporary easement granted by Lee H. Dunn and Tharon Dunn for bicycle path purposes at 54R Old South Road; seconded by Mr. Bennett. So voted. Mr. Bennett moved to authorize the Chairman, on behalf of the Commission, to send letters of thanks to these individuals; seconded by Mr. Watts. So voted. Commissioner Reports. Mr. Bennett inquired as to the status of the Monohansett/Boulevarde area road improvements and County Administrator Libby Gibson responded that letters are currently being drafted to residents as to the schedule of improvements; the funding for the project was not available until last month; the drainage will be installed as soon as possible, but no paving will be done until next spring when asphalt will next be available. Ms. Gibson reported that the cost of the improvements is estimated at$530,000. There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7:10 PM. Approved the day of 9th February 2005.
