MINUTES
Tuesday November 03, 2020
This meeting was held via remote participation (using ZOOM recording
feature)Pursuant to Governor Baker's March 12, 2020 Order Regarding iJz
Open Meeting Law.
I. Procedural Business
Call to order: This meeting was conducted via Zoom and called to order by Chris Young,
Chairman, at 9:00 am. This meeting was recorded on Zoom video.
Attending members: Chris Young (Chair), Paul Wolf, Mark Cutone and Kevin Kuester
Staff in attendance: Cathy Flynn,Land Use Specialist
Absent members: Ben Normand
Late arrivals: Paul Wolf
Early Departures: None

III. New Business
I. Phil Bloom 117 Orange Street Master Sign Plan 55-377 Isaiah Truyman
Representing-Isaiah Truyman,Ezia Athletic Club.Moved into the location and moved his sign.
Applying for two signs; projecting and wall sign. He has removed the flag sign and the sandwich board
sign. Sign is made of wood and carved.
Kuester- Recalls comments on size of logo.Too contemporary and does not meet guidelines.There
was a flag sign and sandwich board sign prompted the request for a Master Sign Plan
Young-Agrees with what has been said. Font vs logo area. Font is less than 15% of the sign. Seems
appropriate.
Wolf- no concerns
Cutone-No issue with projecting sign. Logo has contemporary features. Background is dark No
concerns with wall sign in rear of building. Manufactured according to the guidelines.
Motion to Approve as submitted-made by Cutone;Seconded by Wolf.

1. Enforcement—
Wolf- Sent a picture of a few free- standing signs at the corner of the high school. Confused
with message. Things out of control on public property.
Young-To what extent will there be messages on town property. Constitutional rights
might be involved.
Staff-Will circulate what town admin has posted on website, to the members.
IV. Other Business/ Preliminary Review(if applicable)
• Discussion with Vineyard Vines regarding seasonal windows
Manny Castillo and Jeff Weissman,Vineyard Vines;would like to replace blue vinyl to address
concerns from last season. Close November 30,2020.Would like to be in compliance.
Cutone-Thanked Vineyard Vines for responding to the concerns from last season.The blue impacts the
visual setting on this highly visible corner.There are no guidelines as to how this would be treated. Great

examples from vendors are those who have draped the back side of the windows masking off interior,
draped in creative way.Lemon Press has a winter scene.If you display,lighting is encouraged.
Kuester-Display a street scape friendliness.Do not want to see logos or more sign in windows.
Young-Explained the prohibition of TV screens or LED lighting.Pollacks'displays historic photos of
Nantucket.Window displays do not need approval.
Wolf-If they want to bring something back to them,they can.
