Procedural Business Call to order. This meeting was conducted via Zoom and called to order by Chris Young, Chairman,at 9:00 am. This meeting was recorded on Zoom video. Attending members: Kevin Kuester, Chris Young, Paul Wolf, Ben Normand, Mark Cutone Absent members: None Late arrivals: None Early Departures: None Motion to Adopt Agenda made by Kuester; Seconded by Cutone. Nantucket Historical Assoc 7 Fair Street wall sign 42.3.1-50 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand, Normand Residential Design- NHA is looking for consistent style branding concept. Nantucket Historical Asscfl '7 Fair Street wall sign 42.3.1-50 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand,Normand Residential Design, this is the Research Library. Lettering applied to freeze board. Similar to the Whaling Museum lettering. Historical lettering above for NHA. Not requesting all caps. Kuester- prefers current signs and scale. Would like to keep signs but relocate. Does not like knew lettering in freeze. ll Cutone-would like documentation of existing signage. Prefers lettering to plaque. Agrees with Kuester. Wolf- font and scale the same as the NHA above Young- no comment 3. Nantucket Historical Assoc 10 Mill Street fence sign 55.4.4-15 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand, Normand Residential Design; Eleanor Ham Pony Field fence sign; Will reduce size and location Kuester- prefers horizontal on fence rail. Cutone- no comment Wolf- no comment Young- no comment 4. Nantucket Historical Assoc 8 Gardner St wall sign 42.3.3-56 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand, Normand Residential Design; Fire-Hose Cart House;will provide existing signage Kuester- questioned that it would be silk-screen; better than decal Cutone- no comment Wolf- questionned lettering on all proposed signs Young- no comment 5.Nantucket Historical Assoc 8 Howard St fence sign 42.3.3-11 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand, Normand Residential Design; Greater Light existing is rather large. Would like to move "plaque" sign to fence Kuester- concerned moving to road-little visibility- should not be larger- all signs should be the same size. Cutone- no comment Wolf- know there is another sign not on the picture. Gate to the backyard showing hours of operation. Young- no comment 6. Nantucket Historical Assoc 99 Main St fence sign 42.3.3-110 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand, Normand Residential Design;Thomas Macy House. Existing sign is mounted on house and not very visible. Prefer on fence. Downspouts on house create an issue. Kuester- logo smaller than the name of the site. Does not think fence sign works there. Move existing sign near the door or on one of the risers. Cutone- prefers the sign mounted on house. Trying to brand signage when every property is unique. Wolf- does not agree with a menu box. Believes not open to the public. Ask to confirm if public is invited to walk into house. Young- will it be below handrail. Freestanding menu box maybe. Kuester- thinks keep existing and move. Cutone- does not need a menu box and sign. Prefers relocating sign towards pedestrian traffic. Wolf- no comment Young- no comment 8. Nantucket Historical Assoc 16 Sunset Hill fence sign 41-449 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand, Normand Residential Design; Oldest House;relocate sign from structure and add to fence. Kuester- no comment Cutone- no comment Wolf- no comment Young- no comment 9. Nantucket Historical Assoc 50 Prospect St fence sign 55.4.4-25 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand,Normand Residential Design; Old Mill; currently no sign at site Kuester- no comment Cutone- no comment Wolf- no comment Young- no comment 10. Nantucket Historical Assoc 15R Vestal St wall sign 42.3.3-43 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand,Normand Residential Design;Old Goal;existing free-standing sign on street to be repaired. Want to replace current.Will look at name, date and logo of NHA Kuester- no comment Cutone- no comment Wolf- no comment Young- no comment 11. Nantucket Historical Assoc 4 Mill Street Wall sign 55.4.4-16 Norman Residential Representing- Ben Normand, Normand Residential Design; 1800 House. replace with updated signage Kuester- asked if there is a fence at the front of the building. Entrance is on other side of the building. Cutone- no comment Wolf- no comment Young-asked if should sign be located towards the actual entrance. The presentation concluded. Applicant will do more research on what is existing and look at scale, size and fonts. Motion to hold for revisions made by Cutone; seconded by Wolf. Enforcement- Staff updated the Council members on the NIR Property Stop sign,one-way and do not enter violations. Citizen complaint on Boat Basin emblems were removed. Umbrella logos used by restaurants are temporarily waived due to the pandemic. Suggested a letter in the paper reminding downtown business of temporary signage COA waiver so as not to see a flurry of unapproved signs and umbrella logos next season.
