Approval of Minutes from July 19, 2011. 2. Mike Burns to discuss existing plans for sidewalks, regulations, requirements, procedures, process and funding sources for sidewalk improvement projects. 3. Outline and discussion: A Plan for the Improvement of Sidewalks and Pedestrian ways in Nantucket Town. 4. Public Way Monument list and map, next steps. 5. Old, New and Other business including possible discussion of items on the attached Projects and Issues List. 6. Adjourn. The Nantucket Sidewalk Survey is a project of the Roads & ROW Committee intended to: 1. Identify and map existing public sidewalks in the Town of Nantucket (Indicate width, surface and condition) 2. Roads & ROW Committee will review data with Planning Director and Transportation Planner and will make recommendations to the BOS/CC regarding: A. Gaps in existing sidewalk sections (i.e. Pleasant St., Prospect St. and Quaker Rd.) B. Safety recommendations C. Cost estimates D. A plan for improving pedestrian access via sidewalks throughout Town E. Coordination of grant application for possible CPC funding of project F. Work with the Nantucket Town Association to develop project G. Discussion of parking on sidewalks H. Encroachments on Public Ways and Enforcement of by-laws I. Divide Town into cohesive sections and prioritize problem areas Next meeting: Tuesday, September 20, 2011, 4:00 p.m. at 2 Fairgrounds Rd. R&ROW Committee Outstanding Projects and Issues Priority List:  First Way Pedestrian/Bike Access and Road Improvement Project  Public Way marking project: Publish Map with locations of new and old monuments  Pedestrian/bike path linking Prospect Street path to Madaket Bike route via Mill Hill  Update Priority Takings List and process used to evaluate priority for takings  A Plan for the Establishment of a Nantucket Greenway and Footpath System  Footpath from Washington St. Ext. to Orange Street Improvement Project  Surfside paper road/abutters way takings  Spruce Street, viewing platform/boardwalk to East Creek Road  East Creek Road layout  Public cemetery access and maintenance plan  Oversight of maintenance West Chester St. Ext., Crooked Lane and Cathcart Road  Publication of “A History of Roads and Ways”  Chapter 91 Public Access License Enforcement: Harbors Plan Implementation Com.  Mill Hill Project: Map of trails and public property, status of public use Completed projects needing implementation and follow up:  Access to Sconset Footpath, maintenance and signage  ROW Improvement Plan follow-up and implementation  Miller Lane footpath: Property transferred to the Land Bank Vision/Mission Statement, Roads & Right of Way Committee The vision of the Nantucket Roads and Right of Way Committee is to preserve access to Nantucket’s public and private lands, including our harbors, coastline, ponds, moors, conservation lands and historical sites. Access is one of the greatest gifts the Town of Nantucket can protect for our current and future citizens. Our Mission is to review any issues concerning the status of access over public and private roads, rights of way, abutters ways, proprietors roads, footpaths and any other ways throughout Nantucket County, and to make recommendations to the Board of Selectmen/County Commissioners to ensure and improve public access over them.
