NANTUCKET PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
JOINT WITH
NANTUCKET BOARD OF SELECTMEN
5:00 – 7:00 PM, TUESDAY, FEB. 19, 2008
2 FAIRGROUNDS ROAD
7 Members Present: David Gray, Sylvia Howard (arrived @ 6:00 made the
quorum), Nat Lowell, John McLaughlin, Barry Rector, Frank Spriggs,
Jeff Willett
BOS: Whitey Willauer, Patty Roggeveen, Allen Reinhard
Staff Present: T. Michael Burns, Tom Broadrick, John Brescher,
Jeromette Hicks
Milone & MacBroom Consultants: Mark Arigoni, L.A. & Mike Wilson, P.E.
I. Call to Order Chairman Rector (NP&EDC) and Chairman Willauer (BOS)
called the meeting to order at 5:10PM.
II. Establishment of Quorum Chairman Willauer declared a quorum was present.
III. Approval of Agenda – no vote taken
IV. Discussion Item: Downtown Traffic Study
The discussion included:
The fact that this is a “final draft” and this meeting is for focus & feedback
We are still in the “review period”
One major comment so far has been the “gateway”
1 page comment letter by David Gray
Some felt shouldn’t have solutions for 12 months, for 2 month problems
Ferry surveys were done
Intersection counts done to capture ferry rushes
TIP money, grants, Transportation Bond Bill or CPC Funds maybe
available for a revenue stream for recommendations, (ex. In-Town
Bike Path)
Short term recommendations before Summer 08 include Oak Street two-
way, change in parking angle on Broad Street & Stop sign at Salem
& Candle Streets
Most recommendations are long term
Discussion of parking lines & bump-outs
Pedestrian “Gateway”/ point of reference / maps
Look at Harborview Way Walk / boat ramp
Look into Chapter 91 on Easy Street
Any further comments should be given to Transportation Planner Mike
Burns.

Chairman Rector adjourned the NP&EDC meeting at 7:10 PM.
Chairman Willauer adjourned the BOS meeting at 7:10 PM.
