Flint Ranney. Absent was Peter Morrison. Also in attendance was Philip Marks, who has an interest in the Madaket Landfill wind turbine process, and an Inquirer & Mirror reporter. The meeting was called to order by chairman Anne Kuszpa at 5:02 pm. The agenda and minutes were approved unanimously. A discussion was held concerning the number of committee members (nine authorized), the number appointed by the BOS (seven remaining after the resignation of Carl Borchert), and whether a quo-rum is four or five. The matter was tabled to await further information. Progress on the Madaket Landfill wind turbine was reported by Whitey Willauer. He has met with the HDC and discussed turbine color (light grey) and location (to be determined). Balloons will be sent aloft to indicate turbine height and visibility at different locations. The turbine is to have no lo-gos. Public outreach will begin with a meeting at the Madaket Admiralty on January 31 from 4-6 pm, which will be posted and advertised as a public meeting. Peter Morrison has prepared a power point presentation on the project. Committee members thought it would be good for us to see the presenta-tion in advance of the meeting (on or after January 26) to familiarize ourselves with the project details and be able to answer questions. Phil Marks recommended Windpower Monthly Magazine as a good source for information, particularly with performance of installations around the world Regarding the three solar projects, Anne Kuszpa said that Bob Patterson has an application in process, expected to be presented to the BOS on January 19, with an RFP to be announced January 25. These projects may start construction by mid-summer 2011. The final WPI Electric Car and Smart Grid report was presented by the students on December 14, 2010. It is hoped that WPI will come back next year for another project. Anne Kuszpa reported that she and Mike Burns would like to send a memo to the BOS asking that the NESC be afforded a chance to make recommendations on the Climate Action Plan before final ap-proval, and it was voted to submit our request for discussion in February. In response to a question from Mike Burns, Mr. Willauer said that a subcommittee consisting of him-self, Greg Tivnan, George Aronson as project manager, Anne Kuszpa, and Diane O’Neill meets week-ly to go over changing details in the solar and wind turbine projects. Barbara Gookin said that her son Colin is developing an Energy Kiosk project at NHS and invited committee members to attend the next School Committee meeting where he will make a presentation. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:47 pm. Respectfully submitted,H. Flint Ranney, Secretary
