Minutes of the Meeting of 21 December 2011. The meeting took place in the Public Safety Facility
Community Room, 4 Fairgrounds Road, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present were
Rick Atherton, Robert DeCosta, Michael Kopko, Patricia Roggeveen, and Whiting Willauer. Chairman
Roggeveen called the meeting to order at 6:01 PM.

III. NEW BUSINESS
None.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES, WARRANTS AND PENDING CONTRACTS
1. Approval of Minutes of 26 October 2011 at 6:00 PM. The minutes were approved by the unanimous
consent of the meeting.
2. Approval of Payroll and Treasury Warrants for November 2011; December 2011. The payroll and treasury
warrants for November and December 2011 were approved by the unanimous consent of the meeting.
V. OFFICIAL BUSINESS
1. R. Thomas Okonak and James R. Okonak, Trustees: Request for Execution of Grant of Non-Exclusive
Easement in Area of Massachusetts Avenue as Shown on Plan Entitled “Exhibit Plan of Land In Nantucket,
Mass.”, Dated September 14, 2011, Prepared by Blackwell and Associates. Inc., For Purpose of Facilitating
Use of Septic or Other Sewage Disposal System Installed on Lot A to Service Single-Family Residence on
Lot B. Attorney Kenneth Gullicksen, representing the applicant, spoke in favor of the request, noting his
clients’ house on Massachusetts Avenue has a failed septic system. Mr. Gullicksen said his clients propose
to run a pipe across Massachusetts Avenue so a new septic system can be installed on a vacant lot they
own across the road. Mr. Gullicksen added that Massachusetts Avenue used to be an abutters way but that
the County took the road in 1996, and clarified that his clients still need to apply to the Board of Health for a
new septic system. Mr. DeCosta moved to grant the easement as proposed; Mr. Atherton seconded. All in
favor, so voted.

VII. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 6:04 PM.
