Minutes of the Meeting of 9 May 2011. The meeting took place in the Town and County Building
Conference Room, 16 Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present
were Rick Atherton, Michael Kopko, and Patricia Roggeveen. Robert DeCosta and Whiting
Willauer were absent. Chairman Roggeveen called the meeting to order at 12:47 PM.
I. Approval of License Agreement with Sheep Pond Road Property Owner for Emergency Access.
County Manager C. Elizabeth Gibson noted that there is still no signed license agreement from
Sheep Pond Road property owners Benjamin Gifford and Jane Carlin, as they have concerns
regarding the amount and type of insurance the County carries and the license area on a proposed
map. Ms. Gibson said the County is moving as quickly as it can with the road relocation due to
severe erosion. Mr. Atherton moved to authorize the County Manager to move forward with the
license agreement pending resolution of the owners’ concerns; Mr. Kopko seconded. So voted 3-0.
The Commissioners and Ms. Gibson answered questions from attorneys Sarah Alger and Whitney
Gifford, who represent abutting property owners. Ms. Gibson noted she will send a copy of the
license agreement to Ms. Alger and Mr. Gifford when it is complete.
The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 12:53 PM.
