Minutes of the Meeting of 27 April 2011. The meeting took place in the Public Safety Facility
Community Room, 4 Fairgrounds Road, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission
present were Rick Atherton, Robert DeCosta, Michael Kopko, Patricia Roggeveen, and Whiting
Willauer. Vice Chairman Atherton called the meeting to order at 8:07 PM following a meeting of the
Board of Selectmen.
Mr. Atherton asked to undertake the election of officers until the end of the meeting.
V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES, WARRANTS AND PENDING CONTRACTS
1. Approval of Minutes of 23 March 2011 at 6:00 PM. The minutes of 23 March 2011 at 6:00 PM
were approved by unanimous consent of the meeting.
2. Approval of Payroll and Treasury Warrants for April 2011. The payroll and treasury warrants for
April 2011 were approved by unanimous consent of the meeting.
II. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ms. Gibson noted that there is an ongoing issue with erosion and Sheep Pond Road, adding that
the Town is actively working with an abutter to widen a corner of the road that is in danger of
imminent erosion onto private property. She said the longer-term plan is to relocate the road but
there are some issues with the state and its Natural Heritage program that need to be resolved.
Ms. Gibson said if the erosion continues to occur and the road is lost before a license is in place,
the County will need to close a section of the road.
I. ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Mr. Willauer nominated Ms. Roggeveen as chairman and she accepted the nomination. Ms.
Roggeveen was appointed chairman by acclimation. Mr. Kopko nominated Mr. DeCosta as vice
chairman and he accepted the nomination. Mr. DeCosta was appointed vice chairman by
acclimation.

VII. COMMISSIONERS REPORTS/COMMENTS
It was agreed to postpone the Commission’s 2011-2012 representative appointments until the next
meeting.

The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 8:11 PM.
