Minutes of the Meeting of 22 September 2010. The meeting took place in the Court Room, Town and
County Building, 16 Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Commission present were
Rick Atherton, Brian Chadwick, Michael Kopko, Patricia Roggeveen, and Whiting Willauer. Chairman
Chadwick called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
I. ANNOUNCEMENTS
None.
II. PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES, WARRANTS AND PENDING CONTRACTS
1. Approval of Minutes of 21 July 2010 at 6:00 PM; 4 August 2010 at 6:00 PM. The minutes of 21 July
2010 at 6:00 PM and 4 August 2010 at 6:00 PM were approved by unanimous consent of the meeting.
2. Approval of Payroll and Treasury Warrants for August 2010; September 2010. The payroll and
treasury warrants for August 2010 and September 2010 were approved by unanimous consent of the
meeting.
3. Approval of Pending Contracts for 22 September 2010. County Manager C. Elizabeth Gibson
reviewed the pending contract. The pending contract for 22 September 2010 was approved by
unanimous consent of the meeting.
IV. OFFICIAL BUSINESS
1. Request for Acceptance of Release Deed Regarding 10 Beach Street, Siasconset. Attorney Julie
Fitzgerald, representing Jacqueline Seidel reviewed the request regarding 10 Beach Street and the
history of the Siasconset Bathing Beach Trust. Mr. Willauer moved to accept the release deed
regarding 10 Beach Street, Siasconset; Ms. Roggeveen seconded. All in favor, so voted.
2. Planning: Review of Options for Extension of Prospect Street Shared Use Path. Transportation
Planner Mike Burns reviewed Prospect Street shared-use path options, requesting that the County
Commissioners choose an option to extend the current path to Madaket Road. He added that the
option recommended by staff has also been endorsed by the Roads and Right of Way Committee. Mr.
Burns explained that the staff recommended route would require a layout taking of Winn Lane which is
private from Vestal Street to Madaket Road. He asked that the County Commissioners start the
process by having staff notify abutters in the affected areas and to hold a public hearing on 27 October
2010. Mr. Burns answered questions from the Board. Mr. Kopko noted his concern over the cost of the
project and paving issues. The Commission consensus was to notify the abutters and to hold a public
hearing at its 27 October 2010 meeting.
V. COMMISSIONERS REPORTS/COMMENTS
None.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 6:22 PM.
